orange county is home to some of the purest-souled househeads with whom i
have ever had the pleasure of grooving.

congratulations to drez and lisa and scotty and the crew for being
successful house missionaries ... to date, approximately 75 heathens' souls
have been saved.

quick story (not meant to be self aggrandizing). when i got off the decks, a
dj/ promoter named 'spirit' came over to me with the aid of scotty's girl,
jen. she was bawling so hard she had trouble keeping it together long enough
to thank me. " i haven't released on the dance floor like that since seeing
the Dead live," she said, " it was so beautiful... it took me to a different
place with those last three songs... and when i heard that one of them was
yours, i just..." and she started crying.

i have been working to be worthy of that moment for 10 years. to be able to
convey to another person the first time i truly understood the music and
used dancing as therapy. my only response for spirit was to smile and wrap
my arms around her and say, "i understand." she might not have believed me,
but i can still remember vividly the night when i first danced for 4 hours
straight, writing on a piece of white notebook paper in my head the names of
anyone and everyone who has ever done me wrong... ripping it into little
pieces... letting them float away.

last night, i was able to connect with the crowd on a spiritual level in a
way that we might be numb to in san francisco from overexposure. remember
what it was like where there was only one party in town a week? remember
what the anticipation was like? how amazing those few spectacular parties
were?

i've got to stop now so i can enjoy my day with lisa and drez, but come down
here to spin, carpool down to groove, do whatever you can to come share this
very special time in OC's evolution.

Did they something about feeling the love??? All I have to say is that I
have experienced an incredible week in music thanks to Ben, Brad, Dazy,
Cade, Conway, Bassland and Jason Blakemore. And when they said that I would
quickly feel the love of Jon Brown I did not expect to find myself in tears
for the beautiful music that he brought to us, not to mention the sets that
Scotty and Drez dropped tonight either. Thanks to all of the wonderful
talented people that I know for making right here be such a wonderful place
to be.....much love and respect! ~Ami~
