a BIG difference. remember, it's not just mixing one
record with another. the DJ also manipulates the music
through adjusting treble, bass, reverb, boosting the
gain, etc. not to mention that if you mix section A
of one song with section B of another, you get a
different song thin mixing section B of the former
song with section C of the latter.

do out of towners have better record

yes, they do have different records in different area.
house music producers don't have the ability (or alot
of times, the money) to distribute their songs
nationwide. the internet has helped, but i think
there's still a disparity between records available in
different regions of the country and the world. that
being said, when someone like louie vega or even mark
farina comes to LA people get excited a)because of
their style of play and b) because of the new tracks
that they'll play that i haven't heard of. i
additionally, there are ALOT of local djs from all
over the country who are REALLY good and the only way
for them to get their style of music out to us is
through promoters booking them in other cities. i
personally admire and appreciate promoters who bring
in out of town talent because it exposes us to many
more differnet styles of music.

so to the promoters who are trying to bring something
new and different to LA....thanks.
