[Dynagroove] Alton WHO???

i dunno - i am moderately picky about mixing, and i thought that his
mixing was pretty acceptable. at the end he was mixing some disco
together which is _anything_ but easy to do and he was doing a pretty good
job. and the mixing overall was decent i thought... i heard a FEW dodgy
mixes, but i wouldn't go so far as to say there wasn't a decent one all
night. (and it was the guys birthday so i'd guess he probably put down a
few drinks... i've heard him other times and his mixing / programming were
a bit smoother)

but i'd much rather hear someone play an interesting assortment of tunes
and have fun than be boring and mix perfectly (i can respect both, but i
think the former is generally more fun). i guess i try to mix the two
approaches myself... i do enjoy playing a pretty smooth (some might
say boring) set, but i also enjoy pulling out a few surprises.

86% of people who go out and dance (ok so maybe in a big city the
percentage is a little lower) don't really care about the mixing and
wouldn't notice a trainwreck if it hit them in the head.

anyway i def. thought alton rocked the spot. props to the crowd too -
the same set definitely wouldn't have gone over well with a less
open-minded (well ok maybe less drunk too) crowd.

i haven't had such a good time at a party in la for quite some time, and
ultimately that's what's important to me.

oh yeah the guy who was playing keyboards over the djs was pretty dope
too. i am not usually such a fan of this sort of thing, but in this case
it was done well (and tastefully). does anyone know who this guy is?

my $0.33
