My weekend was amazing!
Let's see, I started out on Friday night at Free Thinking, so I could catch
Jordan, I like what I heard of his set, though a little pumping for that
little space, (If you like what you heard be sure to listen to TribeRadio on
July 5th)...Then Mr. Cade got up on the decks and right away he was playing
all those 80's remixes, I saw his bustin' a move behind the tables, looks
like he was having some fun. You're a crazy kid Cade!
I didn't stay to catch Joshua (Iz) I knew that I would be seeing him
Saturday night...I headed over to ::More::
I saw Tony Watson and DJ Phoenix switching off, Tony, was celebrating his
wedding anniversary, and his mixing was not...well you all understand,
though DJ Phoenix was pretty much on point, he played a track that broke
down into some tight sounding bongos and had the crowd raising their hands
in the air...what a nice vibe over at that place...
Off the house subject for a minute, I was blessed this Saturday, be getting
to see the great James Moody, a saxophonist, who has played with the likes
of Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and many other Jazz greats
back in the day...I feel very luck to have gotten to be able to see him this
weekend...I also went to another concert with some Jazz legends on Sunday,
but the names are escaping me now, the point is, that I saw some amazing
music that really lifted my soul. I can say that more often than not, when
these greats were playing, I got choked up listening to the beautiful sounds
coming out of their instruments...and all these men are at a ripe old age
still playing so passionately, it was a real joy to behold...Thank you DJ
Emi (TribeRadio June 21st) for hooking up those tickets!
Saturday night, I ventured out to Deep Space, strolled right up the venue
with my companion for the evening, Mr. Basskick, (TribeRadio THIS Thursday)
we showed the guard our ID's and went inside, no bus stops for us...I
thought it was very reminiscent of the old school. Nice underground vibe and
the outside area was a cool place to chill out in...Not too many heads
there, but I though there was a nice little vibe going on and I had more
than enough room to dance.
I was impressed by Iz. I hadn't heard most of the records he was playing and
his mixing has really improved since the last time I saw him. He had me out
on the floor grooving away...then came M&M, damn, those tracks were out of
this world! I heard so many horns and vocals coming out of no where! They
has Basskick busting some serious moves out on the dance floor as well as
myself! It was like nothing I had ever heard, again though a lot of safe
mixing, but that's cool they kept the groove going...got to chit chat with
Mr. Iz after he was done playing...what a nice young man he is! Very humble,
seems like I'm running into more and more DJ's that are humble lately....
We left around 4:30 and headed home for the night...
Sunday...Watch the Lakers DOMINATE over San Antonio, then went to the Jazz
show again, and didn't make it out to Lillyanne's party, I was full of house
and jazz and didn't think that I could fit anymore between my ears....Though
from what I've heard it was an amazing night! Great job Lillyanne and the
Future House crew!
I plan on heading out tonight to see a "pioneer" of house music, you all can
catch him tomorrow at Release, if you haven't heard of Ron Trent, check the
web for more info on him, learn your house music kiddies!
Until the next time...peace

Subject: [Dynagroove] weak-end review
Friday I went to free thinking and was very pleasantly suprised to see IZ on
the decks rockin it.(Jordan played great too)
Saturday it was deep space 1. While not being impressed by the production of
the party, i.e the bus stop in the hood, with a three car line, Mateo &
Matos plyed good records. As did Jordan and IZ. With a special guest tba,
and seeing Diz there, I was hoping for a little session, but it never
happened. I left towards the end of M&M's set so no review on Juan/s
Sunday We ventured off to futurehouse. Let me just say one thing....
OUR LOCAL TALENT KICKED ASS!!! Kasey, Cade, Daisy, Lillyanne, and Jonra all
tore it up over the Idjuts & even Diz I thought. Espescially Daisy &
Lillyannes sets. What the hell is going on with the Idjut boys??? Diz' set
was great compared, but lacked that Funk factor. Not to mention that system
couldnt handle diz' volume levels, and thats when I said it was time for
bed.
How was Buck, Thomas, Tony Watson? Did Thomas put on a freak exhibition?
