this isn't specific to LA... or to the house music scene. politics are
important in 'the scene' just about anywhere you go. to an extent
they're important everywhere. i'm certainly no fan of dealing with
politics (and that's one reason you don't see me out very often) but we
all have to deal with them - be it at work, in a 'scene' or in some
other aspect of our lives.
obviously there are some people who get away with a lot less politics,
often because they're extremely talented musicians, but for the most
part, there's almost always some politics involved.
and 'starting your own foundation' is always a good thing... and does
politics play a role in your decision when you are doing your own thing?
i'd be willing to bet money that it plays at least some factor in some
of your decisions. it certainl;y has in many of mine.
