this one looks nice:

morgan geist!, john howard... bunch of cool guests in oct and november;
it's at the sapphire lounge on houston.
i think there's still some good stuff going on at the club that used to
be 'save the robots'
i played at halcyon a long time ago and that was pretty fun; it was
before it got as popular as it apparently is now though. i think sleaze
factor is now there as well which would probably be well worth checking
out (i found some gems in the bins there too). there has definitely
been movement away from clubs and towards bars / stores. some bars will
definitely let you dance despite the silly cabaret laws.... and a lot of
places just post signs saying you can't dance because they have to...
they'll usually still let you dance.
i agree wholely about the music scene being more diverse... if you're
used to hearing the same thing all the time like in la it might be a bit
weird :P
david hollands is def. well worth checking out; he's a good guy and a
talented dj; definitely a little more on the techy tip most of the time
but i've heard him bust out some cool housey stuff as well.
i would definitely check dubspot for flyers / posters / flyer listings.
they tend to have flyers for some interesting looking events.
