With so much going on in L.A. this weekend I found it difficult to decide on which event to attend, So I Scooped up my good friend Lizzette and started our mission. We decided to go kick it with my boys from Vinyltribe @ The Return of the $5 Funk. Wow was I impressed.
The place was packed, the crowd was slightly younger(not kids) than usual. And they were going off!!! Everyone was positive and was into the music I love seeing everybody dancing and feeling the music.When I finally made my way through the dancing crowd, I saw Basskick "throwing down" and he ended his set with "Finally" by CeCe Peniston and the crowd went nuts!!! Next up was Zack Hill and he did not waste anytime he quickly took it "Dark and Dirty" working the decks and a CD Turntable. If you have not seen these guys spin live you are missing out on some of L.A.Hometown talent. I also gave Zack, Basskick, and Emi an advance copy of my "Voodoo Man" EP. that I have comming soon on deepfunk records. I also heard they got a hold of One of the new HouseArrest 2.0 tracks thats remixed by Voodoo Man. I guess you will have to listen to Vibeflow.com on thursday night to hear it. I can't wait. Thanks for the Vinyltribe T-shirt Guys!!
Next We hit Sound Textures @ Voodoo Since I had a Ticket via. Joeshua and Lizette had one via. Andy we had no problem comming right in (thanks guys) We just missed Miguel Migs spin but we talked over a couple of drinks @ the bar, and he didn't let me hear the end of it till he made me go back to the car to fetch the HouseArrest 1.0 that he didn't yet recieve (My bad Miggie) He gave a copy of his new stuff and its very, very good so don't sleep on it. I saw all my friends
in the house too including my main man Craig (deepfunk records) The highlight was watching Jordans set, Whew!! What did they put in your drink J ??? He was Going Off!!! I don't know who was dancing more the crowd or him!!! Excellent set Jordan. And Superb Sound compliments of Andy V (UnionSoundSystem) Thanks to Uniting Souls-Bronson(hoodrat), Andy, Jordan,Scott(Pescado), Joeshua (backdoe joe) for another good time. Wow if that wasn't enough we hit the Loft with David Mancuso(NY)
we got there to hear him for about 45 min He had incredible records. Very interesting. I wish I could have heard more. Big "Cee" told me that he had a never heard anything like it before and it was an experince. Need I say more. Whew what a night or should I say morning.
I was even to tired to join Scott K and his crew for breakfast (thank you for the invite)and I will see you on Friday @ More. Then it was to the tilt for some well deserved rest. Thank You LosAngeles for another good evening.....Eddie"Chill"Posadas
