Hey never too late for a review right?!? ;p Ive been so busy with skool and
work that I havent had time to give props to all the dope parties I went to
last week!
FRI
*stopped by more real early to hear some outta the ordinary yummy stuff
from scott k and tony watson. i dont usually go early (~10pm) but they
started the night out with some older and real groovy stuff. they brought up
the vibe in no time, and before you know it, neil aline was up on the decks.
i didnt get to hear him long cuz i was on my way out, but he was definitely
representing the chez deep sounds :)
*stopped by freethinking havent been there since the venue expanded. i
love the new spacious venue (still lotsa heads but more space ta dance!) :)
met a lot of dope new people :p i dont remember the name of the special
guest DJ who was rockin it but he definitely made daaance :)
*stopped by micelis down the street from freethinking for the bodyrock DJs
basement bump. (monthly?) the venue is cozy and intimate, and the energy
of the crowd was dope! the sound was good just enough to have it engulf
you on the floor, enough for people to talk in the back. its always
exciting to see ben, marcus, and soul play together or even separately, and
see them move and get so into their music. i like how although they play
lotsa good house, they incorporate some hip-hop, breaks, funky stuff, old
stuff, soulful stuff, etc. they defintiely live up to their name!
SAT
*stopped by organic soul at the voodoo lounge. i was impressed! they had a
good turnout especially with the amount of 4/20 parties :) there was a line
but i got in quickly with no prob. cute stylin hostesses! i like the
venue
kinda reminded me of a smaller mayan with its decorations. i got there
and saw gerry meraz. he was lighting the dance floor with some smooth house
and went on to the more funky deep stuff :) wally callerio definitely played
some eye-raising music i always like hearing the different and new stuff.
i dug the upstairs too - there was a chick spinnin some hiphop. small rooms
upstairs but ample sound :)
*stopped by the roam art/music party out in a huge wherehouse/loft space
near east la. i was also impressed because i heard it was put together so
last minute. there was a lot of dope murals, crazy installations, some
computer generated art done by this guy suspended about 15-20 feet off
ground, and other mediums of art on display throughout the space and rooms.
i caught joey santa cruz spinning some house, mellow at first until he
gradually built a good tight enthusiastic dancing crowd.
*i topped the remainder and most of my evening off at dynagrooves 3 year
partAY.
WOW. that was a lot of fun. great venue, dope staff, grrreat vibes,
dope people, dope dancers! the rooms were so yummAY, I had to keep running
from one room to the next. i always enjoy listening to diz and he has yet to
disappoint me! it was my first time listening to jaime thinnes and I really
had to tear myself away from his room sometimes to run back to diz. i really
freed out much of my stress from the week by dancing it all off there. $2
waters rock! you guys care! thank you!!!
SUN
*stopped at deep for matty heilbronn. ok now he is like the epitome of
deep in deep house. i was mostly closing my eyes the whole time dancing off
in my little world. marques just really knows who to pull in.
great exhausting weekend needless to say i crashed the f out when I got
home. :)
