headed out Friday night to hear Thomas Sahs play
at Free Thinking. good show again from yet another
Texan. do they put something in the water there or
is it just me? i put in a good dance to his set and
thoroughly enjoyed myself. he didn't push the limits
as others have, but i enjoyed the set none the less.
saturday night i headed to faith first. walked into
the restaurant/bar to see no one at the counter. i
spotted amy about 10 feet in front of me and walked
over to to ask her what was up with the door, since
i consider her "in the know" regarding the faith events.
i was talking with her when i felt my arm pulled my a man
twice my height who roughly said, "hey this party isn't
free, you can't just walk in like that". i responded with,
"i know..how much is it?" knowing that the price was not
on the flier or voice mail. we went back and forth like
this about three times before he finally said $20 and i
handed it over. jeesh. i shook that off. i liked the intimacy
of the venue. the sound was good as well. nice size crowd
who throroughly seemed to be enjoying themselves, although
they thinned out dramatically after last call. didn't get to
hear rick wade. caught all of terrence parker for the first time.
i know that a lot of people like him, but my opinion was "ehh".
to each his own. i don't like when the dj fiddles with the mixer
so much. not to say he was not versed in it, i just don't like it.
good programming though and good selection of music. i heard an
hour of mike huckably. very smooth, tight mixing. i was impressed.
good show from the crew who put it on, although a little more
information, like door price and age requirement up front would
have helped a bit.
i headed over to homies that do play to find broadway all blocked
off. i was forewarned though. danced to cade's set. there was
a very very thin crowd there. cade played well. but i am biased.
after much internal debate, i headed to deep on sunday night. good
damn show from mark farina!! he was feeling it and you could tell.
the crowd was hopping. he played the washing machine song...hrmmm..
love a sense of humor and funk in a track. fliering is way more
fun when there is good music to hear.
this is long winded now. so good weekend all around.
looking forward to some killer upcoming events...
and oh yea...come to my party.
zoki.
