If you liked what you heard (trance) and saw (tragedy everywhere) over at
Spundae, maybe you should have been over there with the rest of the candy
ravers.
I personally thought Broken was a great experience. It was clean (they
even
brought in more restrooms), had adequate ventilation and fans (even though
I
don't think they ever had to use them), the sound was amazing, and the
lighting and visuals blew me away.
Sure, the music was deep and dark, but if I wanted happy, run-of-the-mill
house that I can hear every week I would have gone to any other party in
LA.
My only regret was that I didn't get to hear Bodyrock and that's only
because the fire marshall shut down the party at 3:30. The promoters were
more than apologetic and since the party was only supposed to go until 6
or
so and I was there at 10, I think I got my money's worth, especially since
Spundae and Together were considerably higher and both closed around the
same time.
As for the people, I thought the crowd was great. They were sure as hell
more friendly than most of the people at any Dynagroove event I've ever
been
to, where I've often felt alienated or like I didn't belong there. And I
thought the crowd was the perfect size. Plenty of room to dance. Hella
better than being squished in like sardines.
All in all, I think this party offered a club-like experience with a few
party-like elements sprinkled in. A perfect combination, especially as I'm
getting older and don't feel like going home looking like I've been to a
rave. (Yes, I said "rave")
I had a great time.
