Not sure if you actually READ my review or not, but I remember typing
something like..
"After a bit, we headed down to hear Julius Paap, who disappointed me the
only other time I've heard him (at Release), but on Saturday night, he was
WAY better than before.. Dropping some nice tracks, riding the mixes for a
long time, and some sweet basslines as well.."
which to me meant that he was GOOD (opposite of BAD).. The only (single)
complaint that I had with his set was that every time I was getting into a
groove there seemed to be a break in the music.. Now I know I'm only "up
and coming", but in the past 10 years I've tried to learn what *I* like,
and it's DJ's who go more than 1 or 2 records without dropping a break..
you know 'building and releasing the tension' so to speak... I guess maybe
by the year 2012 I'll "know my shit"..and maybe be able to "have the crowd
in the air" like Julius did..;). Just wanted to point out that I thought
Juluis was GOOD, not BAD.
keep levitating...
zack the new jack.

Saturday night I went Sacred Ground's party at an old venue. Big changes
since I last went there. When I got there Julius Papp from Loveslap and
Estero recordings was spinning. He had the crowd in the air. Playing from
deep naked style to fat jazzy dubs. I don't know about Zack Hill's comments
on Julius. Frankly, I think Zack doesn't know his house music very well.
Papp has been around for a long time and knows his shit. Zack check your
ears man, I think your losing it !!! Oh wait I forgot your up and coming.
Anyways, after sweating like a pig inside an oven I dragged my fat ass
up to the second floor and heard some very cool tracks played by....sorry I
dunno know the guy's name that was playing.
Finally Maricio from Naked Music came up and played some lushes tunes.
Shakey intro but threw down the sexiest musique. I wish other promoters had
the balls to present these kind of line ups to Los Angeles. More vocals
please! Thanks to all the guys at Sacred Grounds for throwing such a great
party. Beautiful vibes.
see ya,
Claudio
