First off I would like to acknowledge that this party
had a great price, and for only 10 bucks there were
few flaws (the lighting being the main thing that
stood out).  As for the music...to be honest I wasn't
feeling the order in which the dj's played.  I got
there for the beginning of Collette's set, and while
she has a beautiful voice, she generally plays too
hard for me, which sounded good for a while but then
began to kind of drain me, forcing me outside until
Brett Johnson came on.  Now I am a big fan of B.J.'s
production work and would list him high up in terms of
freshness and creativity, but I was really fixin to
hear something a little less banging after Collette.
He did play some good ass cuts that had me dancing,
but then it was back to bang bang bang...I must of
really been in an off mood, cause I only stuck around
for some of Iz's set, who played the best in my
opinion (I did not get to hear the guest dj however)
but had to bounce back to the pad to listen to
something more groovy.  Overall, there was good talent
but they played mostly too hard for my taste (maybe
cuz of the size of the space, I'm used to smaller
venues).  This is not a criticism on any of the
promoter's tastes involved, but I generally feel that
LA seems to be more BANG and less soul these days.
