Somewhat offtopic, but I figure this list would be as good as any to get
this question answered.

For those house producers/dj's out there:
What gear do you use to produce house?

I've been doing ok with a DX7 loaded with clavinet, bass and rhodes patches,
a futureretro, an er-1 and digital performer.  Still, all those synths/drum
machines gives my music a discernably techno-like sound that is not exactly
what I'm looking for.  Recently I've been looking for something that will
allow me to do some fairly complicated looping/chopping up of beats.  I've
been dickering between a software solution (recycle/acid/ect.) or something
hardware (elektrix repeater/mpc2000/etc) but I just can't make up my mind.
Idealy I could find something that could take a loop, chop it up and allow
me to split the pieces over a midi-keyboard for further sequencing.

Sorry for wasting your time if your not into production.  Still, i figured
all you house-heads might be curious about where this music comes from.
