Herbert is the shit. Period. But it really does help to see him live at
least once...once you do, you'll really apreciate the music more when you're
listening at home. The Bodily Functions CD is amazing on it's own...but once
you realize that it really is made up of tweaked samples of bodily noises,
you really start to appreciate the beauty of it. I played with Herbert once
a while back. Back then he didn't do the banging the CD on the microphone
thing....but last time I saw him live in LA he did it...it was funny as hell
because he came out with an N'Sync CD....he started banging it on the
microphone (sampling and tweaking the sounds) until it broke apart....and
then created this deep and beautiful house track before our eyes. Sweet.

Oh and regarding the vocalist....Dani Siciliano has a beautiful voice.....I
had also heard it was his wife, but when I played with him I complimented his
wife (to him)....he quickly corrected me that it was his girlfriend and not
his wife. When i saw him again in LA their status hadn't changed. Don't
know if they've gotten married since....just throwing that out there.

Anyway, I highly recommend the Bodily Functions CD....it may take a while to
grow on ya....it's not the normal upbeat house sound most people are used
to....but it's deep and definitely soulful in it's own way. (By the way,
Herebert also has many alias you may want to check out....for example Doctor
Rockit who made the hit Cafe De Flore.)

The female singer with the silky voice that you are describing is Dani
Siciliano, who is his wife and tours with him and is featured on most of
his tracks. Bodily Functions is Herbert=92s first production album and =
a
definite must have. On the first track of the album, he has even sampled
his new-born baby=92s cries and gurglings.
Most of the samples you will hear on the album are suppose to come from
the human anatomy=85appropriately given the name of the album.

<< Ok ok, so I'll throw down a Herbert review. A friend had advised
me not to miss herbert, so I checked it out (I was going to check it out
anyway). Walked in there and he was opening a CD and banging it on the
mic and CD bits were flying everywhere. He would then take those noise
samples and loop them into the songs. =20
Next he got a box of life cereal and was going nuts with that.
Banging the bag against the mic and corn flakes were flying everywhere.
It was pretty infectious and the croud was getting pretty roughty too.
The one word to describe this guy would be "QUIRCKY." =20 >>
