[Dynagroove] giving credit where credit is due

Here we go..........
:)
So much that is musical is just an extension of something that was
previously created. Even the keyboard tones on a synthesizer were
pre-programmed by someone on a development team somewhere, so even truly
"original" electronic music without any samples are still not completely
original. With music, everything really is everything.....Why take the time
to point out that someone's beats are more or less original than anyone
else's? The song should speak for itself..... You don't see anyone
criticizing Harvey for the Black Cock stuff, nor the Idjuts for the Noid
releases, nor Laj aka Ray Mang aka Motif for any of the re-edit stuff that
doesn't give original credits. Maybe nobody cares, or maybe people just
recognize that the sampling and editing is so good that it is an artform in
and of itself and not worthy of criticism. I don't think this is an argument
as much about whether sampling other people's stuff is good or not, it is
really about the quality and craftsmanship that is displayed by a producer's
sampling ability. If you really want to break it down, you gotta go back to
the days of disco, funk, and soul where house music was really born. Hell,
even rock and roll for that matter...... The point is that music is meant to
be enjoyed, and when criticism overshadows musical appreciation, it doesn't
make much sense to me. Movies are remade all of the time where the originals
were foreign films that no one has ever seen, but you don't hear people
screaming about it. Why? Because new interpretations on familiar themes are
what artists do, and music is no exception. Instead of belittling people for
not doing enough with a given set of samples, why not praise them for what
they did do.......
