HOLLYWOOD, NOVEMBER 14, 2002 – BRASS is reuniting and the King King is sure to be the hottest and hippest place on November 27th, the night before Thanksgiving. For those of us who frequented L.A.’s nightclub scene in the early nineties remember how the creative energy of BRASS helped inspire young artists of all mediums.

BRASS was formed in the spirit of a creative underground community in love with music – soul, jazz, hip-hop, and alternative dance. As the boundaries between music grew more and more meaningless, BRASS brought people together. Founded in 1990 by Marques Wyatt (OM Records, DEEP), Orlando Aguillen (Southpaw Records) and Paul Stewart (PMP), BRASS has remained an icon for helping pioneer rare groove to Angelinos. With the help of DJ Daz from London, all four spun records that produced rhythms and beats where live musicians jammed, singers scatted, modern day poets rhymed and dancers expressed freely. The artistic venue soon became so popular, yet still remaining underground that it frequently attracted artists, musicians and actors like Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez, The Brand New Heavies, Q-Tip, Rosie Perez, Laurence Fishburn and Wesley Snipes to name a few.

Wyatt, Aguillen and Stewart soon began premiering artists such as The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroqui and Ronnie Jordan. They often collaborated with New York’s Giant Step to host parties in L.A. and BRASS parties in NY. BRASS branched into BRASS Recordings, which boasted an eclectic roster of singer Lalomie Washburn, producer/DJ The Angel and jazz rappers the Wascals. The name BRASS sounded through L.A. funksters for 5 years. All those involved in their movement still appreciate the venue that inspired their creative _expression long ago.

Following suit, BRASS will be presenting The J Davis Trio, a Chicago based all-live jazz/hip hop band. They've maintained their position as one the most clever and innovative groups of today. They've opened for national acts such as The Roots, Amel Larrieux, Black Eye Peas and Maceo Parker. And also headline at HOB and renown jazz club Green Mill.
