[Dynagroove] Ozomatli!!!! On KCRW!!!

I went to the J5 show at the HOB last night...lemme just say that it was incredible. I know this is a house list, but what Cut Chemist and Numark have been doing is downright innovative and amazing. These guys, as far as I'm concerned, are taking the whole DJing thing to the next level...just amazing stuff.

As for the show, it was awesome as usual....Planet Asia and the Beat Junkies opened, followed by about an 80 minute set by Jurassic 5...with special guest Big Daddy Kane. Ran through pretty much everything, from Concrete Schoolyard to Whats Golden and everything inbetween...but the real highlight of the show was the Cut & Numark interludes; live drumming, playing a portable turntable like a guitar, a live rendition of Swing Set (off of Quality Control), and an amazing display of innovation by Numark by turning 2 kids toys into samplers and hooking a mixer up between them...jaw dropping. Amazing stuff, never miss a live J5 performance!

  How random. J5 also played last night, at the house of blues. Does anyone have any reviews? I didn't get to go, but saw them the day before for free at tower records in the valley.

  Be sure to listen if you've never heard Ozo before... Or better yet, go see 
  them live... They're amazing.

  And just to clear something up, two of Ozo's founding members were Cut Chemist 
  and Charle 2Na (misspelled?). These two were also founding members of J5...
  Ozo's management (at the time) asked Charle and Cut to choose between the two 
  bands, and they picked J5.
  I don't remember who replaced them in Ozo, but the new MC and DJ are pretty 
  damned cool.
