Hey Amy, I also went to Monster Massive....and I thought it was gonna be
wack........My night started @ two Halloween house parties that my friends
threw......Threw down a couple of records and headed over to Green
Sector.......Threw down a couple of records at my boy Theory's request while
peeps were buying tix to Dr Funkenstein......I really wanted to go to Dr.
Funkenstein, but I had to go to Monster Massive for some back-up
bullshit......when I arrived there, I immediatly went to the House area and
low and behold Felix the House Cat had just put on his first Wreck-Chord !!
I imediatly went back stage and kicked it w/ my boy ODI while Felix played
some 80's remixes that had the whole place jumping!!!! ("Personal Jesus" By
Depeche Mode did it for me!) Then he dropped the bomb!!! Michael Jacksons
"Off the Wall"!!! It's nice to hear classics bangin' out loud!! Felix
definetly made my night!!! After he was done we kicked it w/ him and we
talked music!!His a really cool cat an very open minded!!!! All in all a
really good night!!! Not what I expected @ Monster Massive........The house
area didn't even seem like it was part of the
"Massive"....................and the people were cool!!!!! Saw a lot of
familiar faces which made the night better...........
anyone else go????

>As predicted, I had a ROCKIN time at Monster massive this weekend...
>
>It was my one big party of the year, and it was VERY well chosen...
>
>We walked in at 8:15 just in time for heather's first record. This gal's
>record variety never ceases to amaze me... from Missy Elliot to Underworld,
>whatever your preference, she's got ya covered!
>
>Following her set, I counted every second until 11:15, when the MAN
>(D!J!Funk!!!) went on... wow. Simply amazing. Luckily for me, this guy is
>STILL playing the EXACT same records that he was playing in 1997, the last
>time
>I heard him. It's good to know some things never change. I haven't had
>the
>pleasure of dancing to a BOOTY set in about 5 years, so my ass shakin was
>LONG
>overdue...(maybe I need to start hanging out at the florentine gardens or
>something...)

>Anyway, while the LA kids were certainly entertained by the "ass 'n

>remixes, they really didn't know what to make of the music... I was
>starting to
>get pretty annoyed by the time the sixth person interrupted my ass shakin
>to
>ask, "girl, where you from?? LA girls don't dance like that!" In Detroit,
>EVERYONE dances to booty, it's nothing out of the ordinary,...we just dance
>WITHOUT interruptions... I think I burned about 800 calories during his
>hour
>set...right on!!!!
>
>And all you haters who said, "you'll regret going to such a wack party"
>were
>SOOOO wrong... the "house" was all outside, as were bathrooms and a bar, so
>you
>never even had to go inside if you didn't feel like it... remember how much
>fun
>we all had at that one massive a few years ago that was outdoors (it was
>one of
>Milo's parties downtown, but not Audiotistic... I think Cade played, and
>John
>Acquaviva, too.) it was a lot like that... it was easy to forget that there
>was
>this whole other crazy mega rave going on inside the building...
>
>As for the other sets, I only caught about 30 minutes of Kevin Saunderson
>and
>Derrick May's 2x4, but I've heard each of them play plenty of times, so I
>wasn't too worried about it... they were defintiely BANGIN' and very good!
>The
>two of them have very different styles, so it was interesting to hear how
>they
>both kind of modified their styles to make their set sound more unified...
>
>I wanted to stick around to hear what kind of craziness Felix the Housecat
>was
>going to play, but alas, we were over it by 12:30 and went home... (hey, no
>laughing, I'm probably older than you!!!)
>
>I hope y'all had as much fun wherever you went as I did, and I also hope
>the
>next time there is a big party with a great line up, you won't be "too
>cool"
>for a massive... you just might miss out on a GREAT time!
