Here's a summary of Tropical happenings in the near future...

1) Tropical 4-Year Anniversary, October 12, 2002
2) Drastic reduction of flyers planned
3) Dazy and Mr. Annand at "Daydreamers Deep" this Saturday, Sept. 7

1) We are excited to be celebrating our fourth anniversary on Saturday, 
October 12.  The party will feature DJ Tony of the famed Gathering parties 
in SF, up-and coming (and already famous) house producer Rithma, plus 
Tropical's own Dazy and Mr. Annand.  Admission price will vary from $10 to 
$20, cheaper for arriving early and/or bringing a can of food.  We have 
decided to do this party as a canned food benefit as finances have been 
rough the last couple years and we've only been able to make minimal 
charitable contributions lately.  A canned food benefit ensures that we have 
something to give at the end of the party, and gives people a chance to 
contribute to a worthy cause and save money at the same time.  As usual, we 
will have free massage and fruit, we liked doing the free CD for dressing 
Tropically last time so will keep that in place as well.  We will be going 
the extra mile for this party since it's anniversary, expect 4-corner sound 
and lots of new decorations.  PLEASE TRY TO COME OUT FOR ANNIVERSARY!!!  We 
do a lot of extra for our party already and will be doing even more than 
ever this time, so please help us by bringing your friends and celebrating 
our anniversary together...

2) After anniversary we are changing our promotion strategy towards the 
elimination of flyers and reduction of environmental impact.  We have done 
flyer promotions through 17 parties over 4 years and feel we have put our 
idea out there sufficiently.  We have a strong following, many of our people 
come without ever receiving a flyer as they are on our email list or find 
out some other way.  By eliminating flyers we will save great amounts of 
paper and gas, and save a significant amount of money (which will help 
compensate for losing some of the people we might draw through flyering).  
It will save hours and hours of time spent standing outside of clubs and 
parties until they close, time which can be redirected to making the parties 
better and increasing their frequency from 4 a year to 6 a year or more.  We 
will try a no-flyer party sometime in November or December, there will still 
be a flyer available online on the web site and info on the Tropical 
voicemail lines (323-960-8874 and 310-281-8217).  Please reply to this email 
if you know anyone that would like to be added to our email list, we don't 
want anyone to be left out in the cold...

3) Dazy and I are playing with Electric Skychurch this Saturday (Sept. 7) at 
"Daydreamers Present Deep."  It's a pretty big production and the pricing is 
pretty high ($15-$20 presale or $25-$35 at door) - get tickets presale to

calling 877-714-7668.   Electric Skychurch (w/singer Roxanne) is on from 1-2 
in the main room, Mr. Annand from 2-3 and Dazy from 3-4 in the house room.  
The location is Qtopia, 6021 Hollywood Blvd.  Be prepared for strict 
security and to provide ID - 18 and up.
