Los Angeles New Times is launching our new music/dance section first week of October, including a separate Dance/DJ section. So please pick up New Times and start USING US!!! In addition to all sorts of great editorial, we are finally going to get some of our own representation as well.
MOST COMPREHENSIVE (AND FREE) CLUB LISTINGS! We are going to have the most comprehensive club listings of *any* paper in Los Angeles. Club/Event listings will not only be broken down by musical genre, but by day of the week, and we'll have a club directory as well with address & contact information for venues around L.A. much like our sister paper, the SF Weekly. This is going to be great for all you promoters that use papers like ours to figure out where you're headed for the week - because we will have it all (with that in mind, please make sure to submit all of your listings to us so that we can get them listed accurately each and every week!)
I will find out exactly how we're going to have everybody submit club listings and what you need to head the subject of your emails with to make sure that your listing gets noticed and implemented - I will try to stay on top of it, too (although it's not my job, I definitely want to see this thing get used!).
And straight from our new Club Editor's mouth, new weekly articles being added to our Dance/DJ section: DJ PROFILE (might call it "Jockey Briefs", but not sure yet)
A local or international DJ profile -- could be a funny Q&A, top ten list, anecdotes, etc. CLUB NEWS (I think this will be called "Club Scout")
News about new clubs, closing clubs, or reviews, in either dance or live-show venues. PATRON COMMENTS (Might be called "Mix-ed Crowd")
Pictures of patrons at clubs with their thoughts on the music, the dj, the scene, whatever....
And all of this will be coming out weekly for free all over L.A. WOOHOO!!! I told you!
Jhymnbro's got your back!!!
