ARTIST PROFILE:
TITONTON DUVANTE-residual records
   Titonton Duvante was born in Columbus,Ohio July 2,1973. He wrote his 
first song at the age of five intitled "journey to the stars". As a young 
child, he was drawnto the up beat rythmsof disco and the futuristic sounds 
of early electronic music, notably the work of Yellow Magic Orchestra and 
Gary Numan. He was later drawn in be the music associated withn 
breakdancing: electro as well as the sounds of The Art of Noise, Depeche 
Mode and New Order. He also enjoyed classical music, and in the autumn of 
1989 his studies of Classical Composition and Opera Performance at th eOhio 
State University. In April of 1990 he purchased his first piece of 
electronic equipment and has been composing ever since.

  In the fall of 1991, the seminal techno band Body Release was formed with 
members Todd Sines, Charles Noel & Mike Szewczyk. Here , as the core 
composer of the , is where he formed his unique style of music making.  
After the break up of the band in the fall of 1993, he began to seriously 
try his hand at the true art of being a dj. Composing took a back seat for a 
period of time in which he developed the skills required to express what he 
heard in his head or visualised while watching others playing records. His 
techinique was influenced be the ideologies of jazz improvisitation and john 
Cage more than that of hip hop which is an assumption that is often made. 
Behind the turntables this mild mannered gentleman seems possessed by the 
very spirt of the music and he channels it's energy into the audience.  
Titonton's djing is like his music, highly emotional and never stationary.

  Titonton has played gigs throught the US, Canada, and Europe including 
gigs in Chicago, Detroit, Boston, New Orleans, Toronto, Paris, 
Barcelona,Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Brussels, and Berlin.  he has played at 
least 60 gigs a year since 1997.  He has gained notoriety as a recording 
artist releasing music on labels all over the world.

Titonton is the one to watch in the new millenium.......
