[Dynagroove] The hype!

jonny, (and all if this actually makes it to the list)

the problem is not 'that people would only be excited to see mark farina or heather' but that the emails hyping the surprise guest for stompy in l.a. were misleading. i trust you that sharon buck is a fine dj and of course she belongs on your lineup. but lets address the email issue: on the email YOU sent out last week, announcing that there would be a special guest at stompy l.a., the hint you gave was that 'HE has played stompy before.' (and the H was caplitalized, meaning it was not a typo) which narrows it down on two counts--male dj, and played stompy. an email from cade also hinted that 'this person will have been in town longer than anyone would have thought' which further pointed to mark farina since he was in town last thursday. on another email about the reduced list, cade dropped a hint about 'MF' playing a good set last night. i think people's complaint is NOT that the guest was actually sharon, but about the misleading hype and secrecy about who the special
guest was. i'm not sure if her name is *that* well-known here in l.a.

anyway, what people need to know/remember about this list is that it is completely biased, because the admins can choose whether or not to publish submissions, and WHEN to publish them as well. so many messages are censored from the full list that it's impossible to get a clear picture of what's going on in some situations. i feel that the members of this list were led to believe that the SG for stompy l.a. was an internationally-known male DJ. and maybe you were TRYING to get MF, but it fell thru, and the secrecy bit was to not get anyone's hopes up. *shrug* it's all over now, and it was a great party. i will defnitely attend stompy again. thank you.

Sharron is
a really good friend of mine and she has played at Stompy a few times up in
the Bay Area. We were happy to include her into the line up and have her
throw down with us. This is not directed towards anybody, but I may be
reading into this the wrong way, but it is to say that people would only be
excited if it were Mark Farina or Heather? Stompy has always strived to
have the best talent through its doors. I would hope that people would want
to come check out Stompy for its history and what it has done to help shape
the west coast house scene for the past 10 years. I believe the "special
guest' was far fr
om over the top. Anybody who has been asked to play or is
going to play Stompy, is that he or she has the gift and talent to rock a
floor. Everyone is special in their own unique way and that is why Stompy
has known for its DJs and guest DJs.

Has the scene come to the place where no one will go out unless Mark Farina
or Heather is playing? If so, we should all just throw in the towel and
call it quits. There is more to parties then Mark Farina and Heather. NOW,
don't get me wrong here, both Heather and Mark are good friends of mine and
are extremely talented and love listening to them as well. But, there is
plenty of talent on the west coast to keep things alive. All parties need
the same amount of hype and enthusiasm to keep the wheels turning. I
believe if we, Stompy, put "special guest" on the flyer, we have the
confidence that this person is worthy enough to claim as our guest. Sharron
was added late in the line up, so I
didn't see any problem of adding her as
a "SG" People should be excited about this and not try to look so far into
it as " is it Mark Farina or Heather? NO, ahh that sucks then, im not
going."

Stompy is about letting down barriers and opening your mind to house music.
Learning, listening and enjoying! we have been doing something right for
the past 10 years, give us a bit of credit.

Don't let the little things get you down and get in your way . .

Enjoy the music!

________________________________________________________
Dynagroove at reelhouse.net
http://mistress.lavirtual.net/mailman/listinfo/dynagroove

Archives Available at:
http://mistress.reelhouse.net/pipermail/dynagroove/

Brought to you by Reelhouse Network
http://www.reelhouse.net
