I think, though, that The Rapture, Moving Units and other bands of
this type are more influenced by disco and funk. Admittedly, house is
a direct outgrowth of disco, but the two are definitely not the same.
"Beat Connection", the B-side of "Losing My Edge" (by LCD soundsystem)
is worth checking out too on a similar (and more dancefloor oriented)
tip.
Interesting to see the movement towards rock and whatnot in the dance
scene, since there's definitely a big movement of dance-oriented rock
bands (!!!, hot hot heat, etc.) right now, and a lot more guitar bands
seem to be including keyboard players (many of them not-so-very-good)
these days.
