Alright y'all I just got my pictures back and looking at them motivated me to
get on here and let you guys know how my b-day bash in San Fran went. I read
your guys' e-mails and the majority of them are pretty damn entertaining and
informative, <sometimes a little dramatic> but overall beneficial for someone
like me who I consider is a rook in the whole HOUSE scene. I've been onto
this craze for a little over two years now since I turned 21, before that it
was a lot of hip hop/classic rock/punk rock in high school and previous, the
substances a given since the summer of my eighth grade.
I've lived in L.A. county my whole life, born on Sunset, but raised in
SouthEast L.A. county in Santa Fe Springs/Norwalk area. Not until I turned 21 and
started going out into the city did I find this whole other world of
consciousness through HOUSE music. Immediately I was turned on to the scene through a
roommate of mine, my sisters boyfriend and that was it. I mean I heard some of
the 90s stuff but nothing was there to really influence me until believe it or
not it may sound cheesy but its true I heard the Chemical Brothers exit
planet dust cd. (yes i was a digital boy. I never owned a record player, turntable
or piece of vinyl until two years ago. I still don't have tables of my own i
have acquired some 1200s from a friend for an indefinite period of time).
Ok I didn't mean for this to turn into some life story drama I kind of got
lost there for a minute but hey if you like to read then you've made it this far
and if you have an inquiring mind like I do you haven't deleted this e-mail.
The atmosphere in San Francisco in my opinion is just a lot more laid back
and mellow than the out of control over the edge L.A. scene. True, one weekend
will not give me a full understanding of the whole place but it just seemed to
be a little more inviting than L.A. Not as materialistic or superficial. I
went to a party at this club Jelly's right next to Pac Bell park at pier 50
near China Basin Way. That was dope there were two areas; I was mostly outside
right near the water on the dock. I've never experienced anything like that.
I missed Miguel Migs set that night but I was able to hear some of the local
talent. I can't even give you any names I was quite tossed up but when I
heard homeboy throw on MAW The Time is Now I went nuts. I love that track (its
actually a part of the crate and a half of recs that I own) So even though my
foot was all fucked up from the Moontribe party the weekend before (y'all don't
even want to know) i didn't care.
So that ended at around 2 then we met some cool chick who took us to Club Six
and we partied there. They had a basement area that was a little hot but we
managed. Okay this is turning out to be way too long even for me but after
that on they way out I met another girl who was promoting Wicked and she gave us
the flyer for their Sunday night weekly in Downtown Oakland. Before that
though during the day Sunday we drove to the Sunset Summer Solstice party at
Stafford Lake park in Marin county. That was really dope it was beautiful weather,
right next to a beautiful lake near rolling hills and it was all free. Well
seven bucks to park but Miguel Migs threw it down like he always does never
disappointing me. Ok I getting worn out just writing all of this and remembering
all of the extremism that went down for my extended 23rd b-day weekend. I
seriously didn't want to leave.
Then I get home after midnight last night and I hear that two of my friends
both got DUI's on Saturday night on separate occasions. For one of them its
his second and a violation of probation the other one is still in the hospital
and the girl he was with is in critical condition. They had to use the jaws of
like to get him out ot the car. I don't know i'm just a little blown away by
the whole situation. Well whoever has had the patience to read all of this
more power to you because communication is the key to understanding. Like when
Rithma gave his little piece about being stuck in Hollywierd, i mean I don't
know the dude personally or really any of you guys for that matter but this
opportunity has been given to me so I am taking it. peace.
