Basswerks 2nd Sunday BBQ went well right up to midnight.
we must have gotten there right after you, we brought little subs to
support the house sound, and we rolled up right around 4/4:30pm. the front
doors were locked, they frequently are at basswerks, so you have to go
around back. it's especially that way during parties. so we went around
back and opened up the front to load in and they were already 3 dj's in on
the signup sheet. That means it started way earlier than usual.
right away, i set up the subs parallel to the existing setup so as not to
bring the sound down and got the bass nice and chunky. while i was working
on the bass, Don showed up with the fantabulous Keg-A-Que. the timing was
great, more people were steadily coming in as the food was starting to get
put on the brand new "Art-a-Que" that Jason from Basswerks welded. it's a
nice piece of work! Back and forth, both the keg-a-que and the art-a-que
were serving up great food for several hours. Interesting conversations
were had all around.
the early start was really good, people don't usually come so early, but it
was a good sign! by the end, 4 bbq's had shown up all together and copious
amounts of food were had. once bellys started getting filled with great
food and alcohol, people started dancing and kept dancing from just before
sunset till the end. at the end, there was even one big cooler left full of
beer.
Major props to Mary Withers for organizing!! Also major props to all the
dj's that came out!! From the tribally licks, to the 80's tribute, to the
house, deep house, dnb, breaks and prog. Nice ear candy all around! I'm
sure next month will be great!!
I can't believe it was more than a year ago already that we were all
sitting around behind basswerks debating how something like a free monthly
bbq could sustain itself... mad props to Basswerks for keeping to the
vision! hehe... =D
