Biography - Del Costa (set time at tropical - 1:00-3:00 -
www.tropical-house.com/51703/51703.htm)

Del Costa reached the professional dj circuit in 1995 via a disco in Setúbal
- Clubissímo – where he was resident for 2 years, after which he met Beto
Perino, his current manager and mentor. Beto’s mythical after-hours have
always been a part of his career. He began playing in Ultramar, then
followed 18 months at Model's before landing at Paradise Garage, which
already counts 3 years running of success in the Lisbon nightlife.

In Portugal he has toured the whole country. He has performed at Vaticano,
Pacha, Sound Planet, Day After, 8º Oeste, Kremlin, Alcântra Mar, Industria,
Garage, Queen's, Mecca, Kadoc, Locomia, IRS and Capítulo V, among many
others.

His fame spread abroad. In the summer of 99 he is invited to play outside of
Portugal for the first time, at Moog in Barcelona. It was a positive
experience and his ties with Spain were tightened. He has since played in
cities such as La Coruña, Vigo, Bilbao, Gijon, Valencia, Benidorm, Marbella,
San Sebastian, Seville, Tenerife, and the famous Barcelona.

In 2001 he opened his own space together with his manager, in his hometown
of Setubal. The club had a capacity of just 150 people, but was graced with
many famous names of the international underground house scene.  Djs such as
Miguel Graça (Bombay - Canada); Jeff K (Silver network - Paris); David
Duriez (Brique Rouge - Paris); Djulz (OVUM - Paris); Dj Toka (Bosh -
Blackpool); Stewart Peterson (Transfusion - London); Dick Jonhson (Shaboom -
Blackpool); Murray Richardson (Low Pressings - Edinburgh); Dj Loe (Minifunk
- Barcelona); Dj Ino (House Café - Coruña); Mr. Annand (Los Angeles); Boris
Romanov (Propaganda - Moscow); Dj Kong (Multiplex – Copenhagen) played as
well as others... This project was active for 18 months and is now dormant
but can awaken at any time.

A close friendship with Ian Carney (Dj Toka), owner of the prestigious label
Bosh Records and one of the people connected to Shaboom Records, brought
about a new project -ELEPHUNK – which has published 2 EP's: High Tide –
edited by Minifunk in the summer of 2002 and licensed the theme "Movimento"
for the compilation SONAR 2002; and Emerald / Azure - edited by Bosh Records
in February 2002 and licensed for two compilations, one of which connected
to the famous Parisian after-hours - Kwality Batofar – mixed by Dan
Ghenancia and Ralph Lawson (mentor of 20:20 vision).

2002 saw Del Costa working abroad more than ever. From the mythical Rex Club
in Paris, to the most reputed electronic music festival in the world, SONAR,
with a stopover in Gass, a London Club, Bosh in Coventry, to Russian cities
such as Moscow (Propaganda), St. Petersburg and Ekaterinburg, have been
witness to his shows, as well as the constant trips to Spain, where he is
always in demand.

In Portugal he has a project with Mc Johnny Def, the greatest leader of the
"Mc" phenomenon in Portugal. They have worked together and have created a
few original themes and further collaboration is expected.

Del Costa’s major goal for 2003 is to create his own House Label - ROAZ
RECORDS. His roster already has names like David Duriez , co-owner with
Llorca, of Brique Rouge Records, and author of over 70 EP's edited by the
most prominent House Labels (Fcom, 20:20 Vision, Sirkus, Stickman, Brique
Rouge), Dj Toka, Del Costa himself, and Pedro Goya, a young and promising
talent of his hometown.

Del Costa's sound has very unique traits, born of his personal tastes,
experiences and his constant contact with different cultures. All of this
has influenced his music, which can be related to Deep, Funky, Freaky or
Chunky House. Among other labels his sets often include labels like Drop
music, Brique Rouge, Doubledown, Lowdown, OM,Classic, Hi-phen, Bosh, and
artists such as Derrick Carter, J.T Donaldson, Rob Mello, Tiefschwarz, Mark
Bell, Brett Johnson, David Duriez, Djulz, Dj Sneak...
