Golly gee I have to agree, Rick was tight! Jamie kept saying to me, "Look at
him, he's like 45!" wow! I thought he played that old school san fran sound,
acid mixed with vocals with drums etc... I loved it!

So yeah...this is a totally belated review of last Saturday's awesome party
at
Dish in Huntington Beach. Really nice nice club, great vibe, lots of
girls.
It's the OC-meets-house music minus the drama, or something like that...
I only got to hear the end of Iz' set, but from the litle I heard, it was
very, very cool.
After Diz came on, Rick Preston came out and just blew the doors off the
place. To describe him very generally, this guy has a very distinctive
style
that comes off to me as intense deep house with very, very tasteful jazz
elements. His stuff is interesting and fun and most definitely high-octane
booty-shakin' material, and he's even a great showman behind the decks with
his dance moves, facial expressions, and other shticks that only served to
enhance the evening.
So, as an LA house music fan sorely in need of some fresh sounds, I propose
that one of our many devoted promoters on this list get this guy out here
asap. It's kind of a mystery to me that I haven't seen him play in LA
because
he's quite well known in the house music community and has a long history
of
releasing some great records. Big-ass kudos to Jaime for having the class
to
book this guy!
My 1c,
--doron
