In my experience, the scene out there isn't always great, but there is
stuff going on. There's a mailing list at http://az-house.com that you
can sign up for - when my friend still lived there and was running the
site, there was more information and whatnot. 

Also, check out the event listings at swell.net (Swell is one of the
main record stores in town). Batacuda, Kind, Rhythm and Form are all
worth checking out. az-raves.org may have some info too, though of
course there is some non-house stuff here.
