ok, so I trekked on up to pdx (portland, or) on a business/fun trip.
Did my usual check of nwtekno.org for any good parties to hit up... saw
that this dude (sean holland) from coco machete was gonna be up at this
spot called 1201. So, i was like yo, coco machete = lance desardi &
that 3 kings shake yo booty, shake that ass track. I was in. The 1201
is a cool spot, very swanky & chic. Outside you would hardly notice it
was there... its just this un-labeled door right out front of a
corporate office builing. Inside its dark, softly lit w/red light, &
intimate. So yeah, Sean was already on the decks since I got there
'round 1230p & he was droppin a smooth ny sound with some electro
influences. It was a good vodka tonic sippin sound... then he decided
he wanted people to dance & threw down some boompty boomp chicago style
jams (you know the landshark kind), but kept the smooth nyc sound
infused. It was good.... He even pleased the clubby people with some
of them hip hop / pop remixes (a la milkshake, MnM, miss-e, prince &
outkast). F-F-F-F-F-F U N was had. I want to do it again.

SO yeah, i spent some time on teh intArweb & found out that this dude
Sean Holland is actually the mind behind the creation that is COCO
Machete. Check it out for you self...

But yeah, before I check that place out i was up in this place called
the Goodfoot... place is for real. All night the djs drop strictly &
only the FUNK. Well, actaully funk, soul, & disco. It was teh good as
well. Dropping cameo, gap band, sugar hill gang, mj, stevie, james
brown, commordores, & a bunch of other underground funk/disco/soul that
you dont get to usually get to hear. Definitely some treats. Oh yeah,
the best part was the beer... awesome local oregon microbrews...
$3.50/pint. SCORE! --m _________________________________________
