I must say... I must say, fuck a Jane Fonda when you can have 3 dope ass dues
from Brazil, a Jaime Thinnes and Did I Zenfully say, DIZ. Huhh......
After seeing a dynamo performance from tha Brazilian boys @ Free Thinking I
knew they were holding out for last night. Of course my super powers like Miss
Cleo was right, and they tore it UP! I got to Dynagroove at about 10:15, saw
the venue, heard the 1st few records and instantly knew, this was going to be a
DOPE party.....Renato started off the night right. Playing that chunky dirty
house sound I personally am in love with. Talk about a guy who has programming
down like a Captain and Tanielle (sp). I was sweating already at 11pm. I knew
I had to pace myself, you know sometimes when Sara is double fisting it with
the Gin and Tonicas and doesn't want Rochelle to come out and you just gotta
sit back and enjoy for a hot minute... Next Jaime came on and it was a treat.
Going to and playing Balance (speaking of, I heard Gabriel Renee, aka Aquanote
ROCKED it) a lot you don't get to head down to OC much to check him out, but
man oh man, that dude is dope. I love Jaimes music. Deep vocals, dirty
basslines, just truly representin the OC/Seasons clique. : )
Next came on the live P.A. from the Prztz & Gongoloid boys. WORK IT OUT!
There is just something about a dope live PA that gets me rockin, but once
again, I didn't want to strain myself too hard because there was a lil somfin
somfin about to happen, yes I sure am leading in that the D I "he sure did" Z.
Its so amazing how two people can work together and make live music seem
effortless. Truly amazing to have new talent (to LA) that are just plain fucking
GOOD!
So it was quiet for a nano second and then everyone from downstairs quickly
took there places running up the stairs and all i heard was "DIZ is coming on,
DIZ is coming on"
Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmm, the sweet nasty sounds of DIZ. Shit, I was speechless. I can
honestly feel safe and say that is the best set I have heard DIZ play for
about 1- 2 years, yeah I don't go out during the week so I have missed those
times where he has played DOPE im sure but I didn't hear it so don't feed me no
rotten skrimps! He is the man, he is the dynamover, he is the DIZ.
I must step back and thank our gracious host. Cade, you did a PHENOMENAL job
in getting this party together, the location choice, the new talent, etc. You
are a person who I am glad is apart of this scene. You do the things some
people are scared of doing, risk taking and bringing new talent to LA for everyone
to hear. If I hear one complaint, about the party, even if it was "hot and
sweaty", blah blah blah, YOU WERE FOREWARNED ABOUT IT BEING HOT AND SWEATY!
Cade took it back to the old school on this trip and I think its all a little
bit of what we needed to remind us of those good days back in the day, even
though it makes some of us feel older since it was 5 years ago since the first
Dynagroove. Bravo Cade. Bravo. Sara and Zokes, a wonderful job at working the
door, and people, don't give the door people excuses if you show up late and
want to get in for $5. Do your part in getting there early and they will do
there part in letting you in for $5.
Peace, love and NO skrimpin!
Toddley
