OK all I am sure you knew it was coming. But this is a bit ridiculous.
I have no problems with people posting their reviews good or bad. But
when emails are sent back hinting of threats and promoters coming back and
aggressively attacking at them it is a bit silly. I encourage all list
members to post their reviews good or bad. Even dynagroove has gotten
some bad reviews on here and I let them through. As a promoter I took the
views as something to consider. Sometimes I just flat out ignored the
complaint because it was to me something unimportant. I had people
complain that I did not have a good amount of lighting or I didn't have
good DJs. These I just ignored because I like my DJs and I have always
put my money into sound and worried about lighting last. Sometimes people
complain about the bathroom situation or the water not being cold. I
easily fixed those. Here is the deal - this is somewhat of an open forum
and I encourage the communication on this list. I like to hear about how a
party sucked just like I like to hear how it was good. But when others
start posting/emailing the people giving bad reviews and hinting at
threats then I think something needs to be done. Although there is not
much I can do and I will probably in return get threatened back I will do
my best to remove you from this list if you are threatening people.
As for you promoters out there who can't take a bad review I suggest
you get out of the business because I long ago learned that:
1) Not everyone is going to like your party
2) People will hate for no real reason
3) Your tastes will always differ from others
4) As a (somewhat) public figure you have scrutiny brought upon you
And emailing back and going "well what have you done for the scene" is a
pretty dumb thing to say. After all aren't these the people that are
paying upwards of $30 a weekend to support you? Isn't that doing
something for the scene and better yet "your party?" Even $20 a weekend
for say 50 weeks a year is $1000 towards the house music cause. Not to
mention drinks and whatever else they may spend at an event. In fact
these people are our bosses in a way. These people are "the scene." As a
Promoter it is our job to please as many people as we can. Instead of an
attack which I have rarely seen on this list take it for what it is... an
opinion.
As for house being dead... Umnn... I see that the last FAMILY, DOC, and
apparrently Village party did very well. House was never as big as the
"Rave" Scene so lets not confuse the two. (god I probably just started a
new thread) House parties have always ranged from the 100 - 1200 person
event. I see no difference now. We can talk Melodic but in the end
didn't that just end up a rave? How sweet it is? Yes it was house. but
it too was a rave. I have always considered house to have its core 600
people.
Anyway lets all be mature now. Lets have some "Free Thinkin" here and not
confine ourselves to thinking it all negative.
