I am also glad we don't have such problem here, but I think those same
environments exist everywhere, not just in Utah, not just at raves. It is
sort of self righteous on our part to spin that house parties don't have
oodles of people doing drugs. They just have more seasoned drug users.
I'm sure the ratio of people dancing to people sitting at raves is pretty
comparable to that of people dancing to people sitting/standing/smoking at
house parties. There are just more kinds of people at "raves."
I guess everything is more on the down low at house parties, but I sort of
miss that drug freedom that a rave provided. Like, you could sit in the
speaker and -see the music- without the majority thinking you were doing
something totally retarded ......or you could skip around and freely
interact with strangers. But, the truth is that you were doing something
totally retarded irrespective of drug use because you weren't wearing
earplugs or any sort of ear protection and the decibel level was causing
permanent threshold shift ......and skipping is just GAY.
Seeing video of this thing in Utah scared me. What is even scarier is
some news clip I saw. The story was totally spun to make this "rave" an
aweful event. Drugs, counterfeit money, one girl overdosed. Clever how
they threw that in because I'm pretty sure that girl was hospitalized and
did not die. But, the parent or foe hearing this news assumes that
someone died because of the rave and sides with the "right." AND, they
didn't mention that it was Sara Schmidt of Los Angele's counterfeit bill.

I think we should retaliate against the raid in Utah and stop segregating
dance culture. Clubs, raves, underground, your living room, the core is
all about celebration and dancing and goodness for the soul.
I also think it would be really cool if we all tried to make it to Jason
Jay's party in early October called "PLURR."
come on now, it's going to be HOT,
A-ron (going to fuck up Nocturnal Wonderland like a stupid kid)
