Hot DAMN. I came down from Santa Barbara for this little shindig and was
not disappointed! The VinylTribe guys know how to throw a party. I've
been going to VT events and events that the VT have played at for well
over 8 years now. I can say with all honesty that this was the best
event I have ever been to with them.

The location was sick sick sick. Not some stuffy club, or a dark dank
warehouse, but a killer art studio that was set up perfectly. The
visuals, both moving and the art work, set the tone for a warm inviting
party. I instantly felt at home when I walked in. There was enough room
for all the dancers and breakers alike. The sounds system was off the
hook. Not too loud, lots of deep bass that you could feel.

The hot bartenders met me and my companion with big smiles and quick
service. And even though we weren't partaking in the alcohol, we heard
from others that the drinks were very good. $2 bucks for water was a
welcome site as well in the $3 a bottle party scene. There was even a
box of fresh baked cookies, holy yum batman. I heard that Kelly D hooked
those bad boys up. Thank you Kelly!

Musically this party had it all. The freshest newest cuts on CD, and
some old dusty jams from back in the day. I heard tracks that made me
tear up and ones that made me smile so hard that I think my grin is
broken now.

Joplin was rockin the decks when we arrived and she was droppin' some
dirty dirty beats. Next up was Emi and he kept our butts groovin' for
his hour, droppin some booty shakers that would get your gramma in the
walker shakin' her groove thang. Steven started his set with a killer
intro, a big happy birthday wish to his pal and partner Emi. We all
clapped and cheered for the birthday man. Steven dropped some GOODIES in
his set, this old track 'She's Fresh' which had the bodies movin'. His
mixing was crisp and sharp, layering beats and blending melodies with
perfection. At the end of his set he dropped a tune that is close to my
heart, it was a good moment, so good even that I shed a tear. No joke.

Zack stepped up last and blew the roof off the joint. I've had the
pleasure of watching this man deejay for quite a long time now, and it's
so nice to see him rock out on the decks. He was moving and groovin' as
much as the breakers in the back. Its a wonder that he can beat match a
record with all the booty shakin' that he does! He even dropped a track
from good old 1995 that brought back amazing memories to myself and my
companion. We stopped dancing with he dropped Rollin' Gear I, I know and
just stood there in disbelief. It was a magical music moment that I will
surely not forget.

We had to leave shortly after Joplin took the decks at 3am for the end
of the night rotation. Our bodies very sore from the amount of good
dancing we put it. All and all, it was one amazing night. I can't wait
for the next one!

Much love to all the VT boys. You all are amazing!

The only complaint that I have is about you assholes that don't know how
to respect a venue. There was to be NO smoking inside and many times I
saw fools lighting up and ignoring that rule. At one point I saw some
fool walk up to the front by the decks and blow pot smoke into his lady
friend's mouth. When you do dumb shit like smoking inside the venue, you
jeopardize the venue for future use and disrespect the hosts. Show some
respect for the hard working people who put these events together.

place was packed with a TON of fresh new faces.. Pics will be up at

Special thank you's go to everyone who came together with us on this one..

This was the most work for an event we've had to do in a long time but it

was ALL worth every second of it. Thanks to Steven, Emi, Kelly, Jason, and

Damen for putting in an 18 hour day/night with us. For all the setup,

errands, and cleanup once everyone else was partied out!! A HUGE Thank You

to Mike for the awesome visual art throughout the night! You really added a

whole new element to the party! Lets do it again... Thanks to our friendly

Mappoint guy Steve, and to our main man Jesse for working the door! Big

thank you to Joplin for possibly redefining the meaning of an opening set,

you've come such a long way since we met you and you set the entire tone for

the best party we've done to date!! You are AMAZING and we love you!! Thanks

to Violet for her direction and introductions, Thanks to our lovely

bartenders for keeping the drinks flowing and with those big smiles on your

faces, and thanks to Rick and Augie along with Rhythm and Sound for coming

through in a pinch with an amazing soundsystem and for not being a couple of

drama queens!!! You do your job and you do it well. Here's to a long

relationship working together.. Finally, thank you to every single smiling

face that came and danced with us! The party would be nothing without you

all and it's been 5 years now that we've been doing the $5 Dollah Funk$

events and we've seen some of you since day one, others have come and then

come back every time thereafter, and we truly appreciate it. YOU ARE $5

DOLLAH FUNK$!

-See you in 2006!!!!!
