[Dynagroove] In LA, we are so spoiled. (Last night at Muse)

Hi,

I'm here at work, trying to get into the groove of the workday, which
is really pretty difficult when I look out the window and see the
first sunlight in what seems like an eternity (but I think is actually
just about a week).

In LA, the rain makes people crazy. Whether angry, paranoid,
reclusive, lazy, or just plain effing insane, it seems to have this
oddly heightened effect over and above that which folks accustomed to
a normal varying climate might experience under similarly
unfortunately altered patterns. Couple that insanity with the
condition of just being a plain ole spoiled brat, and you've got your
quintessential Angeleno in the rain. Don't get me wrong... I have the
same tendencies to be a spoiled homebody in these times too... I do,
however, recognize a reason to fight the good fight against nature.

Last night, the always on it and always insane (with or without
falling water) Q-Burns Abstract Message took the decks at Greenhouse
at Muse in Pasadena to a very rainy Tuesday night in LA kind of
audience. Weaving one of the more creative sets I've heard him play--
some of the most convoluted and complex techy beats I've really ever
heard on a dancefloor... there I was, with a most sensational
opportunity, but faced with the complex dismay of how spoiled my city
truly is, as I was sort of on that dancefloor alone for most of the
night... and my entire city was either working late or eating cheetos
while watching American Idol (my money's on Mario Vazquez). Well, LA
you missed a good one.

Don't do it again.

The rain is fading northbound. The weekend is on its way. And you have
one more chance this week to hear the unique sound from Central
Florida... at The Good Life / House Salad this Thursday... 10-2, at
Room 5 at 143 N La Brea. $5 gets you more boogie than you bargain for,
with local favorite Lilly Anne starting things off and the
Militantsexcouncil upstairs. Go RSVP on their website and make good on
a commitment. www.housesaladla.com ...Ariba.

There is a damn good reason that this man is consistently booked all
over the US and all over the world (Moscow's getting him next). There
are many damn good reasons, really. Learn them all and get your ass
out to Imad's night on Thursday to celebrate that a boulder didn't
fall on YOUR house.

See you Thursday.

...p.s.w.
