[Dynagroove] support the records @ your local shop.... a few words..holla!

You have a valid point...but it's tough man.

I have to admit...i buy VERY little records any more (be it on the
internet or whatever). I have turned to the dark side of CDs. It's just
hard to compete.

It's out before vinyl, it sounds pretty much the same (I know I know, we
can debate this all day long), and it's cheaper. A download is approx
$2...while vinyl is $12 for imports and $9 for domestics and we can get
the physical records $1-$2 cheaper on the net.

I think the record STORES need to change w/ the times. They need to
figure out what's killing them (convenience & price of the internet)
and solve the problem.

A few ideas...
Computer listening stations for online download stores where you can
pick the tracks you want and download them on the company's account and
pay CASH for them right then and there.

A website of your own to listen to the tracks (in full) on the computer
at home and then you can call up the store to put them on hold or
something so you can come pick them up. Lets face it nothing because
listening to records in your underwear... lol

Simply Jeff's store down here is having a bunch of new ideas coming
through to keep their store fresh and inviting. I think the record store
will stay around because there is something to the record store you
can't get online.

Having the best tracks will only get you so far. But realize the
strengths of the record store and work with them. The main one is
getting them RIGHT THEN AND THERE, I HATE waiting for records on the
internet, especially one east coast based company that takes like 5 days
to ship out your effing records (COUGH SATELLITE COUGH).

Anyways, I just wanted to voice my concern, because I grew up w/ Higher
Source in HB here and I love my record stores and it's more than just a
place for records. It's a good place to talk about what's happening,
what happened, what happened to trance, etc.

words..holla!

greetings folks, just got back to town and wanted to drop everyone a few

lines about groove riders and supporting your local record shops..

I'd like to remind all the local dj's to support your local record store

instead of purchasing on the internet. Yes sometimes the internet can be
more
convenient, and it's great for listening to tracks and doing research,
but as most
of you know the record store business is hurting and our local scene is
lacking much of the support that it used to recieve. Personally I think
it would be
pretty damn sad if LA doesn't have any local outlets for this music in
the
future, wouldn't you?? LA is supposed to be runnin shit right now and
if we
don't even support our own what does that say about us? I'd like to do
what I
can to contribute and make LA thrive once again!!!! Be it playing
records,
selling records, or making music, i'd like to do it all!

So, with that being said, I'm about to get it crackin over here at
groove
riders. We have already had one instore with free food/ beer, live dj's
etc..
that wen't very well and plan on doing more in the coming months!

I also wanted to remind you dj's that special ordering is welcome with
us, I
will even fwd the distribution lists to anyone who is interested in
ordering
on a regular basis. And if you live far from the valley I can play you
records
over the phone and ship them out to you as well!

I plan on building a customer database and will do my best to keep in
touch
with everyone and find what your looking for. One thing about the small
local
record store vs the music superstore is the customer service, so that is
what
we will aim for. (oh besides that you can listen to the records before
you
purchase them). =)
