This is more of a single-night review, but nonetheless...

Friday was my first time at the new FreeThinkin spot and I've gotta say
it is, quite simply, the shit. My entire night became like "Welcome back
to NYC" for me. I went with a friend who's also from the NYC, and as we
drunkenly stepped off of the bus [it's literally about 7 minutes away
from Echo Park by bus], walked one block through the skyscrapers and
concrete and steel of downtown and heard the beats coming from the
basement of this bar, we both teared up and, through choked-back
emotion, exclaimed "We're home, mama". Kidding, but we did look at each
other and make comments as we both realized just how much of an
back-east feeling the night was taking on. The only thing missing was
drinking a forty on someone's stoop beforehand [Next time??].

The spot itself is amazing, I think I'm in love. It's all about the
bathroom-tile floor and the deep, deep booths. Has anyone else
discovered the pretty large, but dark and kinda-easy-to-miss lounge
area, just off of the patio? Great, cozy place to chill or have a
low-key conversation. My only complaint was the amount of bartenders
present. I get the feeling that the bar staff was a bit overwhelmed and
has probably never seen constant numbers like that. In any case, for a
bar that size, there should be more than just two bartenders.

Finally, the music was on-point; Mes and JT tore it up properly. I think
I spent too much time waiting at the bar, and missed some quality tunes
and dancing time, but what I was on the floor for was bumpin.

Looking forward to some jungle biznass on the patio....
