sona: sona is a sick dj...got to see him in his hometown when i was there for 
a gig and he rocked....if you've got an opening book him.

pioneer 500: i prefer the 600 but the 500 is still one of the funnest mixers 
out there...and for promoters like cade it makes a lot of sense because, for 
the most part, it can take a good beating.  i know i'll get crap from the sound 
guys, but i've played a lot of clubs in a lot of different venues....in my 
opinion, with a few minor adjustments and a little eq'ing of the main board, the 
500/600 sounds just as good as the rane rotary a lot of clubs have.  the 
reality is you can't touch the sound of a Urei or the rotary allen & heath, but 
those are very expensive mixers.  for regular club use, the 500 & 600 are the 
shit.  tony watson and i used the 600 weekly at MORE at Gabah for three years, 
and i think the sound was almost always on point....loud, fat, and clean.  
unless you move up to tubes (like the urei or the $5000 a&e) i don't think there's 
much sound difference in mixers that some tweaking of the main eq's can't 
fix.  i'll mix on anything, but i always reqest a 600 whenever possible.

i just played a club in Orlando and requested a 600....they were cool so they 
pulled out their rane rotary and put in the 600.  when i got there i tweaked 
their main board a little...everyone agreed the sound was actually better than 
the rane and they purchased the 600 the next day.
