WOOOOWEEE! What a great weekend! Friday, Freethinkin was more than
memorable. I had never heard Dayhota play before and she warmed up
nicely. By the end of the night she was rockin out. Lady D was steady
funkin as always. But, Ms. Heather, she was the highlight for me. The
past couple times before hearing her at Balance were not so hot for me.
Friday and at Balance though, I fell in love with her all over again...her
and that damned head bob she does. It's like no one elses.
Saturday was a day of helicopters and rest. I watched the Queens of
Comedy for the 69th time. That shit is hilarious. Gurl, I can hear my
eyelashes blink! OK, I forgot no one cares about this since it's not
HOUSE related... "I'm sure you're wondering why I haven't been out. I'm
going to Nicaragua on vacation." Ya, thanks for the update, ya CON
ARTIST! </passive-aggressive indirect nonsense>
Sunday we rolled up to Futurehouse with Liberty Bells on and Miller Light
poured into champagne flutes. Caught the tail of Louis' set. He played
"forever more" and caught my groove. I went to hear Cade for a while but
the sound in that room seemed off to me during Cade's set. Back in the
main room, Liza Richardson was putting down some sick tracks. I love
seeing the dj raise their hands and dance to their own stuff. It's cool
cause it draws you into their set. Lily's set was s-s-sick also. She was
playing some nice acidy-electro-y tracks. I love that buzzy, grindy, "i'm
fucking a sine wave" electro sound. SO HOT! Lily's set was a sign to me
that my house-hater fag friends were going to be enchanted at futurehouse.
These guys don't really HATE house; they just talk mad shit cause they
think electro is "the new black."
Anyway, they arrived just in time for Lance's set. And damn, that Lance
sprinkled some magic dust all over all of us. His set was my futurehouse
highlight. It was the perfect marriage of house, techno, and electro
sounding tracks for my belly. His set was the kind that makes you close
your eyes and sort of forget that you've been flailing your body around
uncontrollably for 15 minutes straight until you accidentally knock
someone in the back, or face, or step on someone's toes. I almost felt
like I was at a (dramatic pause)......rave. A BANG BANG BANGing good
time. By the end of the set, my beloved house-haters were saying "oh my
gord gurl, we have a new favorite dj." That's right. Boys from Texas do
it right! Do it right, hahahahahahahahahahaha! </inside joke>
Diz' set was demonic also. To this day, he is still my favorite all
around DJ. You can almost see the cool wafting off of him. So stylin, so
nice, so talented, so humble. I'm stoked to hear him play at MOVIN.
-There is a reason he is the Dynagroove resident.- Trust!
By the time Qburns had played a couple tracks, we decided it was time to
exit the building. Anyone have comments? How was it? The last time he
rocked me was at last year's Slinky. He played both Tragic Queen and
Kennedy. I threw my panties into a tree I think. Just kidding, I dont
wear panties......anymore.
Speaking of tragic queens, my homie dropped by a gay dance party (a
circuit party) (hahahahahahahaahahahah!) before coming to futurehouse. He
said that in general the music was better at futurehouse (duh) but that
there were certain crowd unification elements of the gay party that would
have been dope at futurehouse. Like, he said that at one point they
lowered this giant disco ball into the main room so low that everyone in
the center could touch it as it spun those little lights around.
I guess that's not that practical of an operation, but a boy can dream,
can't he?
