[Dynagroove] LOVE GROOVE : DERRICK CARTER JUST ADDED!!!!!!!

I am glad somebody else (Rick) feels as I do about Derrick Carter sets in
LA...

In addition to what Rick said, I would like to add the following for your
consideration/discussion...

In my 10 years of experience going to parties in the Midwest and LA, I
have found that DJs often alter their sets depending on who else is
playing. For example, the last time I heard Derrick Carter play in LA,
Marques Wyatt opened up with a MUCH more "bumpin" set than he usually
plays. Maybe it had nothing to do with the fact that Derrick was going on
after him, but honestly I think it did.

I am probably one of the few people on this list (along with Rick) that
has found recent DC sets in LA...lacking. In general, I find that he
plays much harder when he comes to LA than in any other city. I can say
the same thing about Sneak.

I am concerned that the addition of DC to this party's line up will
encourage the other 2 DJs to play "harder" than usual, which would really
bum me out. (Actually this concern really only applies to Sneak, as I
think Heather will play the same kind of amazing set that she always does.
In fact, I predict that her set will be the best of the three. She's
just amazing...)

Perhaps I am the only person who still likes melody and not just beats,
which is all I seem to hear when DC plays in LA these days. Perhaps I am
just clinging on to a sound (from the mid- to late-90's) that is just
gone, and should stop waiting for it to return... but I can't begin to
explain how happy it would make me to hear a DC and Sneak set that was
big, bouncy, and melodic, like in the "good ol' days..."

Man, I sound like my parents talking about good R & B!

Thoughts?
