Wow, sorry to hear this went down.
That says alot about that cat to hear that he sacrificed himself to
save his girl.

I saw DJ Dusk open for Z-trip at the house of blues in hollywood a
couple years ago,
he was sick with it.

Dusk is known as a local hip hop hero in the Long beach/ OC area, and
his legacy lives on.

*On a side note: DJs and club goers, be careful out there on the
streets of LA in the wee hours,
there are alot of dangerous drivers out there.

Subject: [Dynagroove] DJ DUSK REST IN PEACE

I just found out about this a little while ago:

Dj Dusk from the Rootdown collective had his life taken from him on
saturday night by a drunk driver. Apparently he had just finished a gig

and he was walking to his car with his girlfriend when a drunk driver
swerved in their direction. He pushed his girlfriend out of the way(but

in saving his girlfriend's life) he was hit by the car. I think it's
safe to say that Dusk has a place waiting for him in heaven...

Resident for the Root Down and part of Soundlessons collective(not to

mention several other affiliations and associations...) Dusk was
integral part of the LA hip hop community, as well as an all around
music afficionado.

My favorite DJ Dusk story took place about 4 years ago....

So I was at Soundlessons (one of LA's best monthly's in my opinion-
they would play hip hop, reggae, funk, soul, latin, and even a touch of

house at the end of the night). I was hanging out with my good friend
Shagge and in the course of the evening your boy NF proceeded to get
straight twisted(drunk off my ass). We ran into a bunch of Shagge's
homies and I was introduced to Dusk and my dumb ass proceeded to tell
Dusk and I quote "This is my boy Shagge, he has been djing since you
were in diapers- so you(point finger in Dusk's chest) better respect
him."

Needless to say this is one of the most embarrassing things I had
ever
done-- straight up fronting to one of LA's most respected djs!! What
was I thinking?!! Shagge wanted to strangle me-but before he had a
chance, Dusk shook it off like it was no big deal. A little bit later
the three of us went to his car to puff. After a few rounds, Shagge and

Dusk heard a big commotion in the back seat and when they turned around

I had pased out. I used to be a real dumbass back in my drinking days!

I ran into Dusk many times over the years after that and I apologized

several times, for acting like an idiot and passing out in his car. He
just laughed about it and told me not to worry about it--On a positive
note Dusk always remembered me(because of my antics lol) and it was
always love evertime I saw him. I liked the fact that he was down with
house music--he was a true music lover and always was down with the
fact that I was a house dj-that meant a lot to me..

Dusk will truly be missed, a great person and one of my favorite all
around djs--rest in peace brother...

I didn't know him that well, but from the couple times I met him he
was really freindly and outgoing, not to mention he had amazing taste
in music. I've heard him spin the dopest funk, hiphop, latin & salsa,
as well as house and beyond. probably one of LA's best dj's is lost.
life is so fragile.

rest in peace dj dusk.
