I second Mikey (and Cade's) defense of our beloved city. We are second
bananas to Hip Hop/top 40 in the mainstream, but we're NO. 1 in that special
underground scene.
I also agree as a promoter on numerous things Cade said. You can almost
guess which ones: (a) quit telling me you're going to tear up the floor...(b)
hitting me up at 10:30PM, 1 hour after the party started, to tell me " i'm
coming over to your club, can you hook me up?" the balls, eh? (c) idiotic
promoters.
Let me tell you my story on not so bright promoters: this promoter finds
out about the Bungalow Club by attending a Good Life party. He wants to do
his own party there. doesn't call me to get inside info or coordination.
Instead, he contacts the manager (not the owner) and "brilliantly" agrees to put
a deposit of $800.00 for the bungalow club, which he supposedly would get
back only if the club bar upstairs makes $3,000.00 or more...needless to say,
he's getting no % of the bar. For those who have been up at the second floor
of the Bungalow, it's a 100 capacity room, small bar. In other words, using
any basic level of logic, IT'S A MATTER OF PURE PHYSICS, MATH and ODDS, that
you will VERY unlikely hit that number, FOOL. He's thinking he's going to
"pack it with people" but there is a bar downstairs so if it's too busy
upstairs people go downstairs, and that the owner WON'T count the downstairs bar
because (a) she has her own clientele there and (b) the fool never negotiated
it with her. Of course, he packed the place, but got $2,000.00 at the
bar...(DUH!!!). Thankfully, the owner realizes that this guy is a complete clown,
and not a savvy promoter otherwise it would probably have effected me.
As far as not liking that monkey Cade, I've no idea where that comes from
exactly. From my personal experience, he's been nothing but cool with me,
whether he's hosting a Free Thinking party, busting my balls for missing
Dynagroove for the 17th time, or playing for me. Sometimes he's been too busy or
stressed out to talk...so what? i've been there too. Others may have different
experiences, i guess, but no one can be everthing to everyone.
my long ass 2 cents.

Okay, so here's I agree with the most:

"STOP TALKING SHIT ON LA!!! - I am so tired of you snobs out there
talking about the music in SF/NY/CHI. Have you been to these cities much?
yes there are cool events there and some great talent. But guess what?
They are clubs and they are restricted as clubs must be. LA goes strong
we still do undergrounds/warehouses/soundstages. No other cities in north
america does these like we do. We have a wide assortment of talent. If
you like deep house we have it, if you like chicago house we have it, if
you like tech house we have it, and if you like cheesey progressive house
we gots plenty of that too! LA is a strong city so stop telling me how
great SF is. SF does not have the underground like we do."

Seriously people.
And I would even take it a step further and BRAG about The City of Angels
and what we have to all of our friends in other states and even countries!
Maybe then they'll become aware, and MAYBE THEN we'll start hearing tracks
that give LA props, and no more odes to Chitown and NYC, to which I'm
getting quite sick of. Nothing against them of course, but you know what I
mean.....
Los Angeles, muthafuggas!!!!
Oh ya, and who in their right mind could POSSIBLY be asking why DIZ comes
out here so much????? HELLO????? The man is straight magical and radiates
with funk. Bring him out even MORE!!!!
Can't wait for this summer!!!!!
