Any integrated cartridge (Ortofon, White Label, etc) will eventually give
you tonearm problems from all the screwing/unscrewing and licking them to
get the damn contacts to lineup correctly.
I personally dont like the White Labels at all (They need a LOT of weight
to track properly, stylus wears down quickly, etc).
I like the shure series (m447, sc35c, etc). They're fairly inexpensive
(ie. not overpriced) and they track/sound great!! Also the headshell mount
ortofon series are pretty nice.. No tonearm damage and they sound as good
as the integrated models (if not better)
Here's another question:
DJs, do you check/balance the tonearms before you play on a set of
turntables or do you just go on and do your thing?? Balancing them can fix
everything from skipping/feedback to dust bunnies getting caught up under
your needle from it riding too low!!
