No amy you got it worng. I don't hate it when a DJ throws in some older
tracks. However most DJs don't "throw some older tracks in" they just
play old ass sets.. This is my pet peeeve.
Let me tell you a story.. Once there was this DJ who wanted to play for
me for a long long long long time. He kept telling me how he was going to
"rock the party out" and just wantd a chance to play. Now I had heard
some of his CDs and while mixed well were a bit on the comercial side for
my tastes. So I never booked him. Well after some years I finally let
him play. So he jumps up there and starts playing old "Hits/Classics" and
I was dumbfounded. He basically played a set that ANY DJ in LA could
have played that was buying records for the last 4 years. Now as a
promoter why the hell should I book a DJ that I could easily play the same
set he did? Needless to say I never booked him again.
It bugs me even more when top rated talent does this. I hear these DJs
getting payed 1000s to play a set I could have easily played.
The moral of the story is you have to keep it fresh. House music is
always about that exciting new cut. And hearing that new trak that will
be a classic for the first time. But that is just my opnion...
Although my attitude towards house does not seem to agree w/ a large
population of the females in the scene (uh oh am I being sexist?) who need
to sing and dance to the same tracks over and over again. Who jump up and
down and get their panties all wet becase they are hearing "follow me" or
"fuck just for fun" lol. Not there are not Males out there that are the
same.. It has just been an observation of mine that "House girls like it
deep" and on reply at every party.. lol
*Note I did not say all... I did not say most. I said "A large
population" so before you jump all over my shit read what it says. lol
Ok I am sure I am in trouble now
