Those days were seriously the most incredible and influential of my life. I would trade a single moment!
I have seriously been seeing, and then coming to meet and know, a core group of the same people out at parties for the past OMG 16 friggin years! That is just scary! But scary so so good! That is seriously one of the most amazing things ever. And even more amazing is that I know I will be seeing ya'll mutha fuckas in 16 years from now too and I LOVE IT! "The beat just goes straight on and on...."
Who says you can't be 92 and getting the funk down?
Cause and effect of some really good stuff.
And yes Sugarbeats was insane every single holiday weekend. Go Freak Daddy right? lol

Hands down I miss me some LIL RENE!!!! Anyone remember that cat? Everytime
I was one of the last people dancing on the dance floor - I'd look over and
see Rene poppin all over the place! He is the shit! let's see...I got a
list of faves...
Don of the Dirt Line - he saved my life one night.
Aaron Ferguson of the Blue Love Group. AarONELUV
Lukas from NY
Curious George,
MC Leroy Brown.
Brother and Moo
Plant - big tall skinny mixed guy that was always bangin on a drum at an
outdoor party.
Sporty and Nike
Rikki - I miss seeing his braids and beautiful face.
EVERYONE AND ANYONE I EVER SPOKE TO AT THE GEMINI MANOR!!! Each and every
time! oh boy!
My gurl Kristy - last I heard she was living at the Cornpalace.
Keoni with the liquid! OMG love him.
MY BROTHERS THE KOSMIC TWINS! TO PIECES I LOVE THEM!
Leah and Dawn
Lenny from the Good Times parties
Daniel from SD
Jay from Ontario
Ready for this one? Lexi and Boyscout! lol! Who remembers those guys? I
loved to watch them go off...especially when lil Cory would join em in the
Drum N Bass area. Lil Cory AKA Brevi One...I never seen ANYONE get down to
Jungle like this girl.
My OC heads that got me to move out here in the first place, Justin Harris,
Greg Udell, Mark Pereira, Ian Powers and Matt Kinzer
Eli Star in the desert with the sunrise sets
Thee-o in the desert at 3am
I can't believe I'm saying this but the Sugerbeats parties. OMG always the
bomb talent (ahem mr blakemore). Especially that one at the armory in Watts
with Ernie Munson! Damn he rocked it while gunshots were going off due to
the increasing gang violence back then.
And last but not least at all - Chris Haycock and the AV crew that drug me
to my first experience of the LA scene at club DARE. lol. or was it No
Doz...damn I'm old!
Bottom line is that I pretty much could make everyone (well almost everyone)
a favorite so I will stop before I get in trouble for taking up too much
bandwidth on the dynagroove server! lol! BUT ITS TRUE! Everyone I've come
in contact with over the years has a place in my heart because our scene is
the friggin bomb and I don't give a shit what anyone has to say about it.
LA IS THE SHIT.
I LOVE YOU GUYS.

Totally good thread Cade. muah!

Nice topic Cade!

I remember a bunch but can't really remember names. But I'll try.

Jhym is definitely at the top of my list. His enthusiasm and vibe was always
a joy to be around at parties.

Ricky (R.I.P) was another person who's vibe and energy was so warm and
welcoming and fun to be around. His personality was awesome too. He will
always be in my memory.

David Devis too is a great person to always see at parties. He's been part
of the scene before there was a scene and always has a positive attitude in
all respects.

Lulu the concessions lady. She used to sell the mixed tapes and raver
chains. She always had a positive attitude and was a joy to talk to and be
around.

Jez the founder of Parliament. He was and still is an awesome guy. He was
who I like to call my mentor in the scene. He threw the dopest afterhours
during his time and was one of the four fathers of the underground scene in
LA.

Tef from CPU 101 and pretty much the whole CPU 101 crew. Professor X aka
Ismael, Matrix, Stan Endo and the rest were dope people to have at parties.
And if any of them were at your party then you knew "the heads" were in the
house which means the party is going to be dope!

Junior co-founder of Unlock the House, Wax, Basement Funk and now Sarcastic
Disco. Any party Junior was involved in you knew was a dope underground
party with dope dj's. His contribution to the house scene is very much
appreciated by me and the boys at SGP. He may be a little quite to some but
once you get to know him he has a lot of knowledge and good vibes to share.

Manny & Mike from Shredder Sounds system. These guys are true underground
heads. Starting back in the early 80's. Mike Shredder was actually one of
the first djs to play house/techno at clubs in Hollywood and the west side.
Many of you may not know of him or not know he was a dj, but yea he was.
Just ask Doc Martin.

Big Steve is another true underground head that if you seen at a party you
knew the party was gonna be off the hook!

Alvero from Melodic the most humblest person I know. Who founded Melodic.
Need I say more.

Abraham & Marty Fabela these guys have been around since who knows when. All
I know is I ran into them at almost every dope party I've ever been to. From
the old Party By the People parties, Stompy, Sunset, Wicked, Organic and
many other San Fran parties. And even here in LA I would see them at
Flammable Liquid, Sketch Pad, Citrisonic, Family Groove, and now Sacred
Grounds, Sarcastic Disco, Sublevel and few others they make their way to.
These cats have mad style and now are dope dj's themselves.

I can go on and on. but those are the few people that stick out in my mind.
That I thank God for having in our city and scene.

Peace,
Carlos

The "Favorite DJ Set" thread that lucas started got me to athinking...There
were a lot of great DJ sets that set the mood of the night.. But what about
those great people that also set the mood. Or that guy "You know the one
who....." that you always saw out. SO I was thinking of some of the ecletic
people I used to see out and they helped set the mood of parties...

Here are some of my favorites

Brandon - He would stand in a corner and look at his hands and hardly move
at all while dancing and jut kind look like he was tripping out... There
was a rumor that he was somehow related to doc martib. But he would just
stand and move his hands to the music kind like a robert smit.. all night...
then when the music would stop he would come out of his trace and be totally
sober and walk out. The security guards would be like "is he alright to
drive?" lol

Fuzzy Jhymn - Ok I personally know the man who started the fuzzy raver
trend. I am not lying.. Circa 1995 or 96 Jhymn started to arrive at all the
parties with fuzzy mascott outfit overalls. He became known as "Fuzzy
Jhymn" and you would hear him hooting and hollaring infront of the DJ. He
may not be fuzzy anymore but he still hoots and hollars when he is around.
A great story of Jhymn is I had known him when he was a trance/breaks kind
of fellow. One night he walks up to me and goes "Hey man. Your into house
right?" I said "yeah" and he got this grin on his face and he said in the
most energetic voice "Dude! House is where it is at!" He was as
enthusiastic as a guy who had just found god.

Priest - And His Digereedoo. There were few party back in the day that if
you walked into the back corners you did not hear his digereedoo. He was
also a pretty sick dancer.. what ever happened to him?

The no legged break dancer - I still see him out on occasion. But the guy
would start the circle and finish the circle

The Wonder Twins - I hate to say it but I miss them. lol

Sue Dread - Yes I know she is still around and kicking. But it was not a
house party without sue dread's presence

Man I could go on... But these were just the ones who popped into my head...
