I had a fun weekend.

Friday I decided to go hear Matthew Dear at Compression. I should have
gone to Pocket till midnight, but the line at 11 scared me into staying at
the King King. The last time I heard Matthew Dear was at Coachella where
he seemed to rock a bit more than he did on Friday. Say what you will,
but I am not a fan of MINIMAL anything. It's boring and just not enough.
Now, I'm not saying Matthew Dear is not a good DJ or anything...I'm just
saying that minimal is not enough for me. I need a hard drop and at least
one vocal to remember.

It was cool to see new faces, though. Some familiar househeads were
representin', too. The thing that was awesome was the sound set up. It
sounded so good! ...And the way WHOOMP sound reconfigured that place was
awesome, more room to dance. For reals, if you are looking for a sweet
sound setup, check out WHOOMP sound. They know how to do it. They made
it seem less boring.

Saturday was reserved for Dave Rape and Dynamic. All week people were
asking me where I was heading, saying they were going to Sloppy MAUF. I'm
like, "I dunno...I'm going to Dynamic after Dave's set."

I got a text message from "Heather" saying that "Al Green is in town" so
of course I showed this to some people to make them think that it was
Heather that was playing at Dynamic. I myself thought it was true for a
second until I realized that the message should have been from phone book
entry "DJ Heather." I guess Al Green really was in San Francisco where
phone book entry "Heather" lives. She had a great time at the concert.

Dave Rape rocked at Discotek. There weren't that many people there, but
his gaggle of fags, lesbos, trannies, and that one straight guy
represented on the dancefloor. I think I saw Cache rockin out for a bit
too.

Then we were off to Dynamic. A new homo was in the bunch that loves DJ
Heather, Justin Long, and most Chicago house, but had no idea about
Dynagroove or these crazy parties we go to. I was a little worried since
this was the chance to impress that Dynamic might not be poppin. Jesus
Holy Lord, what a nice and funky party! The new homo got a straight smile
on his face when he walked in the party and couldnt get enough. He was
very happy to find the party and is now on the Dynagroove list so he can
find out about the next place to be.

This Dynamic was probably my favorite party at the polka dot palace to
date, even if DJ Heather didn't end up playing.

love,

_A
