[Dynagroove] my bday weekend!!!!

Now that i am over 30, I hate getting older, but I do still love
celebrating my bday, which is this weekend, Saturday July 21.

I am a spoiled brat on my birthday, all thanks to my mom letting me do
WHATEVER I wanted on that one day each year... I tend to try to stretch
the celebration out over as many days as possible, but try to keep my
brattiness confined to just that one day.

Anyway...

I feel like a total loser if people don't remember my bday, and I feel
super loved if people do remember my bday and give me lots of love. The
only presents I need are the presence of friends.
(Hooray for homophones!! "presents" and "presence", get it? Teacher humor...)

What's my point?

My point is, I hope to see many of you over the weekend at various outings!

For starters...

Friday: HAWT!

Since I officially turn 32 at 1:56 am, I will be whooping it up at Hawt
well into the night.

As much as I love super fancy-pants guest DJs coming in from out of town,
I do love it when a party features the incredible talent found right here
in LA.
Thank you to the Hawt crew for featuring LA "homies" new to Hawt once again.

One DJ in particular, Derek Dunbar, is making his Los Angeles debut that
night. He's played a handful of times at Focus in OC and years ago played
clubs thrown by two guys you might have heard of (Richie Hawtin & John
Aquaviva) but Friday night is the first time he's steppin behind the decks
within the LA borders. Coming from Detroit (like me) he has a unique ear
for house music and I can't wait to hear what surprises he pulls out of
the record bag. Okay, maybe I'm a little biased, but I am a
super-dancefloor-friendly-house-snob and all I can say is, he makes me
dance.. btw, he goes on at 4, so take a nap before you come out so you
will make it to his set.

Saturday: BODYROCK IN THE PARK

I can't begin to explain how ELATED I was when I found out that the first
park party of the summer was on my bday. Bodyrock in the park is one of
those events I look forward to every summer and I am NEVER disappointed.
Ben and Marcus put SO much work into these parties, and do it all for FREE
out of the goodness of their hearts. 'Cause that's how they roll. ;) And
I am just as excited about the Marty-Q as I am about the music, friends
and good times! If you missed the eggplant at last year's summer parties,
don't make that mistake again! And don't get me started on the hummous!

Be sure to come over and give me bday spankings! (But not 32, okay?) I'll
be the gal in the green "birthday girl" sash. (I love that thing. Thanks,
Kamara)

AFTER PARTY!

Not only are Marcus and Ben hosting the party in the park, they are even
opening their home up to all the crazy partygoers who just can't get
enough. (Are you guys going for some sort of house-head-philanthropist
award or something?)

Sunday: PARIS!

Okay, you can't really join me in Paris that day, but I just wanted to gab
about how effing EXCITED I am to FINALLY see the city of Lights! I am
meeting my best friend from Detroit in Paris for five days and then we
scoot over to London for a couple more. I wish I could stay longer but I
am a broke-ass teacher, so I'll take what I can get.

Thank you to the folks on this list who shot me suggestions about things
to do in paris and london. They were VERY helpful!

Okay y'all, I need to get rested for this weekend. It's gonna be a great
one. Please come over and say Happy Bday so I don't feel like a big loser.

xoxo
Amy Ricketts
