Hello Everyone -?

 I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know about a Fundraiser that I am doing for the Long Beach Rescue Mission.? It started back in May when I decided that I wanted to help the needy, the homeless and the hungry people of Long Beach. I felt that I could have an all day music festival to raise food and clothing for these people. Once I found a location to do such an event, I went to the City of Long Beach to apply for the permits that were needed for this type of special event. After completed these forms, I waited for about 2 weeks without a answer, so then I decided to call the office to check on the status of this application. After calling and leaving voice mails for 2 weeks, I finally found out that the supervisor of Park and Recreation declined my application. I couldnt believe that someone declined my application knowing that this event was to actually help the city and it was to give to the people that didnt have anything. I wasnt about to let this stop me, so I went iver her head and contacted the Director of Parks and Recreation. I had a long talk with her letting know what my intentions were and this was not only to help the needy, but also to help the city. So I was advised to write a detailed letter to the District Attorney regarding this event and if he/she approved that it would have to go in front of a Council Person for approval.? I couldnt believe everything I had to do to help the needy in Long Beach.? So after I sent the DA this letter, I would call, Email and even visit the office to see what the status was.? Being so persistent for 6 weeks paid off and on 7/17/08 (the day before my Birthday) I received a Email from the city given me permission to have this Music Festival.? 

On 8/03/09, from 1130am to 830pm I welcome you to come to the beach and enjoy "Mid Summer Day Dream".? This is a FREE event that is open to the public.?It will be held at Bixby Park in Long Beach. There will be 8 DJ's spinning music all day long with a special LIVE GUITAR SET from Joy Basu.?It would be great to see everyone come.??Bring a blanket,?lawn chairs, picnic and most of all bring your dancing shoes.? I also encourage everyone to bring any type of canned food and or clothing that you can?to help the people that this event is actually for. All proceeds will be given to the Long Beach Rescue Mission.
