Greetings,

Thank you all for coming out and supporting this past weekends Grow LA! It
was a great success in many ways! And you the party people were one of them
that made it happen. Another success was it went all night with no
interruptions which made the night that much better. This was made possible
by the venue and its beautiful location. Set upon a hill side over looking
downtown LA and on a clear beautiful star-lit night. Another success was the
sound systems in both rooms. Sergio V. and Random Logic set it up nice where
it was full of bass and not blaring loud. Good job guys. Despite the heat it
was an awesome party.

Thanks to all the boys (Rich, Oscar, Edward, Jerry and Henry) for helping
out and taking some of the load off my shoulders. Thank you Junior, Dewey,
Kenji and Cade for bringing your tunes and rocking the joint. AND A VERY
SPECIAL thank you to the birthday boy (NONFICTION) and his dynamic partner
in crime WOBS. You guys did an excellent job. And thank you to our lovely
bartender Miss V. She worked the bar with ease and poise making it look
easy. I stepped behind there for just a few moments and wanted to pull my
hair out because of the crazyness that happens. Glad she handled it and not
to mention her sexy outfit. Woo-hoo! You go girl!

Review:

The party started off with the set up. Sergio V. and Random logic set up a
superb sound system tailored to our unique venue of choice. A MUTHA FUGGIN
HOUSE PARTY! Both rooms were crisp with booming bass, clear highs and no
feed back or cut offs what so ever.

Cade was up first and I have to say I was very impressed with his music
selection and how he got the party started. When the first 3 people walked
through the door I knew it was going to be on. He started off with some
smooth vibey tracks and about midway through came with some heavy bass lines
and funky tracks that got the crowd drinking and feeling the vibe. Near the
end of his set he stepped it up with some awesome tracks that set Lou up
perfectly! Thanks Cade for doing an outstanding job.

Next up was Mr. SGP himself DJ LOU! Lou has been the SG Ace for years now
and he showed why that is so. Lou jumped on and right away took it with
confidence. He started off with some good stompin tracks and then just took
everyone on a journey. From stompin dirty tracks to disco house, to classics
Lou had the whole dance floor going off! People were hooting and hollering,
and dancing the entire time. People were coming up to me asking who our
headliner was and where could they get copies of his set. I was like "thats
Lou" rocking it up there. People couldn't get enough of Lou's energy and
didn't want him to get off the decks. Lou is a veteran here in Los Angeles
and it definitely showed this past weekend. He rocked some new tracks, lofty
tracks and classics that blew everyone away including myself. The way he
blended each genre together was extraodinary. Way to go Lou keep'em hungry
for more brotha!

Next up was the dynamic duo Nonfiction and Wobs. Let me just say I've had
these two guys on my radar for sometime now and sets like this past Saturday
just reinforce why that is so. After Lou's sick ass set I was wondering how
they were gonna pull it off to keep the crowd going and vibe as high and
tight as it was. But no fear, they pulled it off without one hick-up.
They're style is the most unique style I've ever heard from any dual that
I've come across. Besides they're flawless mixing and high energy behind the
decks. They made this set extra special for Nonfictions b-day. From the
funky chunky tracks, to the melodic symphs to the dirty tech I'm proud to
have them spin for us and look forward to the next time they bless the
decks. Keep an eye out for these two as they are definitely making waves in
the LA & OC underground.

To close out the night was...well yours truly G-Dubbs. After the hours and
hours of running around taking care of business making sure everyone was
having a good time and being a good host. I stood behind Wobs & Nonfiction
getting a feel for their vibe and watching the magic unveil. When Wobs
through on his last track I knew exactly where to take the crowd. I started
off with some dark and deep techy tracks that grabbed the crowd and just
made them keep moving and grooving. Then I winded it down a bit with some
funky hip house re-edits and then picked it up again with some classic vinyl
and then took it to them with some deep melodies layered with some jazzy
vibes and rolling baselines. This had to be my best closing set because the
people stayed during the whole time and kept me going with their energy and
dancing through out the morning.

I then let my good friend Henry G. close it up with some classics and house
anthems that I knew the crowd would vibe off early in the morning.

On to the dirty disco room. Hosted by Junior, Dewey, and Kenji. These three
make a great second room. Kenji started out the night with his funky 80's
dance classics, new wave and early 80's house sounds. I didn't catch a lot
of his set but I knew Kenji would set the night up right. I did catch a
bunch of Junior and Deweys set and let me tell you. These guys are making
their own sound and style. I cannot catogorize it because that would take
away from it. Lets just say they came with some awesome tunes that I've
never heard before and kept the room dancing the entire night. I want to
compare it to some of the early Thomas of Wicked stuff, layered with some
similar sounds you'd hear at Sarcastic disco. That is the only way I can
describe the music. Nothing but choice selections and hard to find tracks.
Now people know why we always invite Junior and Dewey to play every time we
have a second room. And with the great sound system provided by Random Logic
only added to the fresh sounds coming from that room.

So thanks again everyone for making this night another night to remember. We
know it will be talked about for years to come. And for those of you who
missed it. DAMN, YOU MISSED OUT ON A SUPERB underground house party. That
was summed up by Jose "you can't get this at no dirty warehouse".

THATS WHATS UP!

Till The next Grow coming Saturday, July 19th celebrating Dj Lou's birthday.
Keep house alive!

Peace,
G-Dubbs
