WOW! Another GREAT party!!!

I could not have been more pleased with this year's Gravity. The talent,
sound, location and crowd made for an incredibly satisfying night of
dancing!

I got to the location about 10:30 pm. I really like that venue... I like
the fact that it has 2 rooms, a nice bathroom, and decent porta-potties
outside if you don't want to wait for the real bathroom. I love the whole
underground vibe of the building itself. And this time, I got an even
better appreciation for the space because my very cultured sweetheart was
pointing out all the murals and telling me all about the artists. Sweet!

I was so glad I got to the party early enough to hear Lucas, Chuck Fry,
Eddie B and Theory. Usually, I either a)get to parties too late to hear
the openers, often on purpose b/c I'm not really into them, or b) get
there early and end up standing around b/c I'm not into what they are
playing. But Saturday night, ALL the openers were FANTASTIC!!

In the small room, Chuck Fry opened up with a FANTASTIC, eclectic,
bass-heavy, often broken beat, head nodding (0r should I say head
banging!) set! Aside from the fact that I love what Chuck plays, one of
my favorite things about Chuck's sets is watching how much he CLEARLY
loves his own records. He is TOTALLY in his own world, just LOVING every
sonic second. I was too. EXCELLENT job, Chucky!

In the big room, Lucas warmed it up with some very bouncy, funky house
records. It definitely woke me up and got me ready for the night!

At about the same time, Eddie B took over the main room as Theory went on
in the small room. WOW! We kept running back and forth between the two,
hoping not to miss too much of either set!

Eddie played quite a variety of very danceable, very funky, and very
unique records. Definitely not a "same-ol' same-ol" type of set I hear
every weekend. I hope it was recorded so I can listen to it again. Nice,
Eddie. :)

And Theory! WOW! As JV says, "BROKE AND BEATEN!!!'' I haven't heard
Theory play since he moved to LV, so it was a really nice to hear him
again. I really liked having two very different sounds in the two rooms.

And then the man of the evening, Johnny Fiasco took over in the main room.
Johnny has remained in my ever-changing list of top 5 house DJs for the
last 15 years. One of my favorite things about Johnny's sets is the fact
that I never know WHAT he's going to play (might be techy, might be Latin,
might be bouncy, who knows??) but I know it will ALWAYS be good. The
last few times I have heard him play, he has played QUITE different sets,
but all of them have been equally danceable. Saturday I thought he did
an excellent job of giving us a little taste of all his favorite styles.
He played the old and the new, the familiar and the unfamiliar, the bangin
and the bouncy. All mixed seamlessly and uniquely. I REALLY hope that
set was recorded!

And in the other room, Woolfy got on and seriously brought the party in
that room to a whole other level. I had totally forgotten that he was
playing that night, so I was so surprised to see a BUNCH of people who
don't normally go to Gravity-type events. It was REALLY smart of Lucas
and Becky to book such a variety of DJ's to draw such a wide audience. I
know Woolfy alone brought out a bunch of heads. As always, his set was
deep, funky, and dirty. I dug it.

We had to get up early Sunday, so we bolted shortly after Johnny's set.
I'd love to hear about Mark E. Quark's set and any others I missed.
Considering how high the bar was set by the other DJ's, I'm sure they were
great as well.

HATS OFF to Lucas and Beck for yet ANOTHER FANTASTIC Gravity!!

Now they can focus on even more important events... like the birth of
their child in TWO WEEKS!! You guys are amazing.

Much love and respect,
Amy Ricketts
