when i think of the days i'd go to la house parties years back it was usually
mixed styles but then there were the house parties, mostly latinos and
mexicans and everyone was dancing .. drums in the back .... everyone had
respect for each other's space and self ... the energy was always thick and oh
so sexy .. by that i mean exciting .. powerful .. timeless .. dance till i'm
sweating .. smiling because i can't stop kinda sexy .. doing what our
ancestors have been doing for thousands of years before because it's a
fundamental part of being human .. dancing and a powerful bonding experience
with each other and that was house music.
then i
remember when we'd go to more mixed undergrounds... going to some random
historical building or east la warehouse to get lost in the building while
looking for three to four areas of dope ass dirty house techno or/and drum n
bass beats .. plus sometimes a bonus of some acid jazz downtempo or goa
tranced out amazement. the little rooms were the best, two three dancers, it
didn't matter... deep drum n bass beats wrapped in sweet minimal vocals. the
best time was finding a hidden downtempo stage surrounded by sound curtains on
a small platform inside a main room at a massive and wow... it was like
finding a trip hop treasure. good music is good music .. the memories of a
time when people truly supported a scene a community an underground.. a music
culture.. even going from room to room was music in itself as you met some
happy to just be there people who were about the experience of dance culture
.. always present always grateful for this underground experience. it's a gift
each time we go out and dance together, what we do most nights has been deemed
illegal and we do it anyway. make it special make it beautiful make it sexy
make it last a life time, because we make the music ..
